Forums - General - The last airbender movie, cool concept, bad director.

http://www.shockya.com/news/2010/06/28/brand-new-tv-spot-from-the-last-airbender/   --------link. I really like this concept. controlling the elements through martial arts is a really cool concept for a movie. I never heard/seen the series that this movie is based on. Could this be the sixth sense director's big come back. He got it right with the sixth sense, but most of his other movies have tanked. I hope that he does'nt do the surprise twist ending thing, that he's overdone to death. I'm just wondering if this director finally has another hit on his hands. I'm conflicted though, cool concept/less then stelluar director. lol

Well M. Night Shyamalan has been working with weaker scripts his past two movies and he has proven he's a good director with sixth sense, unbreakable, signs, and the village.

So far early reviews from screenings have been mixed... but I'm willing to give it a chance.

I've never seen unbreakable, but I thought signs was a jumbled mess and the village was really bad. In the village it was a surprise twist ending that really was'nt surprising. lol

M. Night Shyamalan is one of my favorite director. He's far from being a bad director.

The Sixth Sense, Signs and The Village are probably my three favorite suspense movies.

I agree with you on the Sixth Sense, but on the other two come on. He's know to have played out the surprise twist ending concept to death. There was so many things wrong with the signs movie that it was'nt even funny and that ending was just god awful. The village was just a snoozefest with an ending that anybody could see from a mile away. I have to respectfully disagree with you. lol

I've watched the whole series like three time's, I've also watched the trailer a few time's and I've come to the conclusion that it ain't gonna be that bad. His also pretty much throwing out a whole bunch of thing's which made the original series unique and amazing, but his keeping enough in and at least making a good enough effort for me to give a thumb's up. Let's just all pray that another Dragon ball doesn't happen, if it does, then I can say good bye to my dream's of future Full Metal Alchemist, Akira and Neon Genesis Evangelion adaptions.

Bet with Conegamer and AussieGecko that the PS3 will have more exclusives in 2011 than the Wii or 360... or something.

Signs is the scarriest movie I have ever seen. That means a lot on how good the movie is.

The Village was very good during the whole movie and the ending was unpredictable and smart.

I agree that M. Night Shyamalan's last few movies haven't been as good as his older stuff, but I still enjoyed them. He has proven that he is a good director, and he is working with great sorce material so I'm pretty sure the Last Airbender will be good.

Signs was the scarriest movie you ever seen, seriously, you must scare easily if that was the scarriest movie you've ever seen. The ending to the village was predictable,I was'nt the only one that predicted that ending at the time. Again,I respectfully disagree with you, different strokes for different folks I guess. lol

avatar is some great source material.  if the movie is half as great as the show then the movie should be pretty good.
