Examples?
If the girls were with the protests and there was violence there and the cops told them to disperse and they didn't.. their own fault
As for the press thing, Kevin Misner from 680 news let himself get arrested to get out of the protest on Monday, as the cops had the entire crown surrounded without an escape route

yes. the police were strongly criticised for essentially doing nothing on saturday while there was a number of violent groups damaging stores(breaking windows and throwing feces inside) and burning police cars and, imo, were heavily overcompensating for that during the night and the next day. there were over 900 people arrested in total. all the press had bright yellow press tags that were clearly visible, yet there was a number of them hauled off. (i saw a producer for CTV on saturday who imo was likely taken for being arab looking [and was released released at 3am with no charges])
there were a lot of good arrests, but far, far too many innapropriate ones.
