It would be good, but I don't see it happening, they want people to buy new games (MS and the developers).

I also think the whole patching idea would have been much more possible if they opted to stick with the hardware solution instead of going software solution. Although this would have undoubtedly brought a higher price tag.

yes the HW solution would have been good for games

but it would be bad when people can't buy it cause it would have been costly, not that its cheap now

Haven't read the whole thread, just skimmed it, but two comments.

What do you mean hardware solution? What makes kinect so cool isn't the hardware involved, its the woftware behind. Which as far as I know can't be replicaed by hardware. So could you guys clarify or did I miss something?

OT: I hope they do not patch, as it seems like kinect is someting that should be programmed for from the begining or it will feel fake/suck/not real. So I don't expect patches unless thay are actually needed( ie quiz games with voice commands all I could think of now)

I'd like to know if the games that support some of the basic features... like voice command or RGB face maping will be able to use Kinect

voice comman is not a big problem as it has been done with ENDWAR earlier and does not take much  power out of the processors

for RGB face mapping, this again has been done with EYETOY and FIFA for player creation and does not take much power either

its a different thing if they will implement these features or not

like why would you scream across the living room to make a command and not do it with your headset which could already be done

Well I remember seeing Natal demoed with Burnout Paradise...maybe there could be a few games that aren't 'firing on all cylinders' that could possibly be patched.  If they were though I don't see any reason for them not to announce it at e3.

where was that?

i totally forgot about this

Burnout paradise was a very good graphical game so this prompts the question?

but it would be tough if GEARS3 after GEARS2 went back to burnaout paradise -level grapichs, people would be angered

Wasn't that last years E3?  Kinect was not running on a 360 back then. all the calculations were done by a separate computer it was connected to. i would not even be to sure if Burnout was running on a 360 for that demo.

YEAH around that time,more of

I actually saw the israli tech company do it and not MS with their console

by hardware i meant KINECT having its own processor and detecting and forming everything on its own and then used with a game

KINECT atm just tracks the body and voice but the integration and how those points will reacvh is done fully on 360 processors

now 360 processors which already are taking the load of graphical showpieces like Gears2,can't do both, hence you saw the type of game that were not graphically powerfull at E3
