I remember when donkey kong country came out there were stories on the evening news, and in my newspaper about the incredible graphical technology behind them, showing lots of pictures of Donkey Kong wire frames and whatnot. It was a great game too.

Yeah, DKC come out and I started playing the first stage where you swim, I was just blown away, it was just so amazing.

I have Crysis. I've played Crysis. Thus far, nothing I've seen comes particular close to Crysis.

Killzone 2 looks like a strong game in the graphics department, as does Gran Turismo 5, but it doesn't look like either is going to strongly challenge Crysis in this regard. We'll see if they can up the ante, however.

Gran Turismo 5 makes me get all hot.

Oh, and Virtua Fighter 5 too:

Yup, good graphics, and what not.

ZOMBIE FIGHTER 5!!!! Awesome! ;) Kidding Kidding... why is it that all of the supposed good looking games these days have Zombie esq characters in them?

 WTF?

How is she a zombie?

Myst

The games only purpose was to show off how awesome your computer was. It was like a coffee table book for computers.

Far Cry 2 challenges and may even surpass Crysis.  The cam footage is a bit dark, but check it out:

Word. That game is just gorgeous, and it has a quite good story and gameplay. Excellent music too.

Also, I'm amazed that nobody has posted a Crysis screenshot yet.

I'm gonna have to get me a 2nd 8800gt for Far Cry 2 when it comes out - and that probably still won't be even close to enough.

I liked this game's graphics back in the day:

Can't find many screenshots of it though.
It's actually abandonware now, so I think I might download it.

FarCry 2 looks hot, I suppose it has the advantage of coming out later than Crysis though.

The mid jungle areas of Crysis still look better IMO, with the beams of light, beautiful. I hope a game with an incredibly different story comes out soon though. I mean looking at FarCry 2 and Crysis, they look great, but they seem pretty similar if you know what I mean. Interchangeable.

Edit: Epsilon!!! Little Big Adventure 1 & 2 are two of my favourite games of all time! The art, the characters, the story, the music oh my gawsh.  I'm still annoyed Little Big Planet has nothing to do with LBA, it was such an anti climax.

About FarCry 2: You don't have to worry guys, it doesn't uses the CRYEngine 2. It uses a different engine that is a heavily modified version of another engine... that is also, a heavily modified version of the Unreal Engine 2.5.
