I was willing to give the game a shot, but since I can't seem to figure out how to turn down the settings, it's unplayable.

Go to your installation folder, there's an executable named ffxivconfig.exe. There you can change the settings.

That's a lame place to put it, but thanks, I'll try that.

So no matter what settings I have it on, I have this nasty 3-4 second delay to everything so gg, I'm out. It had its chance. I'll just play freemium EQ2 until GW2 comes out instead.

Have fun.

I almost certainly would join, if I didn't have exams coming up. :(

Will always be here after exams! With less bugs :)

Win-Win situation.

Did some research on my problem and...

"One of the biggest problems for Final Fantasy XIV  gamers it seems is the mouse. It’s laggy. Requests have been made to Square Enix regarding a hardware mouse but until this point, nothing has been done about it.

Cliff over at FFXIAH.com has taken it upon himself to create a patch for Final Fantasy XIV that will do exactly what players have been asking for: a hardware mouse. It works wonderfully.

Hopefully this is something that Square Enix will implement in time for the game’s launch later this month because quite honestly, it needs it. It shouldn’t be too hard though as Cliff states that essentially, only a single variable was changed to allow for the hardware mouse to operate. It’s interesting to think about why Square Enix hasn’t turned it on yet considering the high demand for a hardware mouse."

WTF? A single variable? It would take all of 2 seconds to change and they haven't done it themselves? I don't even know what to think about this.

Probably was a suprise thing for official launch. Square does many things without saying a damn word.

But the fact that it was there is good news. Personally a Gamepad is the only way to play FF:Online for me.

Same here, Its just so much more comfortable for me instead of using the mouse/kb combo but thats because Im mainly a console gamer so it just feels natural, although I will always pick up a good pc game even if it lacks proper gamepad support but those are few and far in between and the only genre of game that I just cant seem to get into are rts's so im good to go

I also had a couple questions for those that are getting this day one.  I would like to be able to play with you guys so maybe we should all play on the same server.  Ive been gone the past couple weeks so I havent had a chance to jump in the open beta yet unfortunately (its been driving me absolutely insane and im on vacation lol) so I was just wondering what everyones plans are or if youre already in a linkshell.  Let me know, I need some ffxiv buddies : )  makes the game sooooo much better playing with people who enjoy the game as much as I do!

Based on the servers that are out already. I am probably going to either Saronia or Palamecia. There are still like 5 unlisted servers left so far.
