Problem is, they want people to get the PSP game in order for them to continue with the series on console. :(

I've got nothing against that. I hope that 3rd Birthday does well enough so they can go back to a more classical PE approach. While I'm enjoying what the battle system has shown so far, PE's battle system was the best battle system in any RPG i've ever played

When I said problem, it was meant as a direct response to A203D's not wanting to buy a PSP to play it (I happen to be of the same opinion since I'm not a fan of portables). So my (and A203D's) ability to play the series on console hinges on other people's willingness to buy it for PSP, which is what I'm worried about. Maybe my worry is unfounded, I don't know, but hopefully there are enough people who are not like us who would go and buy it.

Well, it will all depend on how S-E will market the game. So far, it seems like Sony is pushing it as a JRPG reference for the PSP, so hopefully it will see a lot of publicity once we have a NA/EU release date.
Main issue with a PSP release is going to be piracy. If 3rd Birthday suffers the same piracy rates that Dissidia suffered, then it's going to be pretty tough for 3rd Birthday to have the large impact most of us would want
