Forums - Gaming - Move Sales and the "wiimote-copy" perception/misconception

how much will the "wiimote-copy" perception/misconception affect the the potential sales of Move?

I think this will be Ps Move's biggest obstacle to success while MS Kinect's will be its price?

Same here. It's going to boost sales because now a lot of people who dislike Nintendo can play Wii-like games without having to own a Wii.

Meanwhile, gamers will avoid Kinect based on their experiences with the PS2 Eyetoy.

Ahh... Buh? *head explodes*

The BuShA owns all!

Honestly that isn't the misconception I would be worried about. I basically did take it for granted that they were the same thing. Even after looking up information on the device I am still relatively sure that they are the same thing. That said I have to ask this, and please don't gang rape me for asking. Am I the only one who thinks that thing looks like a high end vibrator?

Software will be the most significant barrier to both.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

I think PS MOVE's biggest obstacle is price.

-while MOVE and Kinect aim for the casual market - MOVE is more appealing for core gamers
-Wiimote-copy might not be a factor for casual gamers because they might not even know about the MOVE or Kinect until it's advertised, casual gamers have a different perception of these things then critics on forums imo

-Sales are going to be limited due to barrier to entry (which is the cost of a PS3, cost of peripherals, perception of the requirement of HDTVs, perception of the requirement of 3DTVs)

IMO the potential market is:

- people who already have or are going to upgrade to an HDTV soon and want a blu-ray player gaming system for the family,

- people who have PS3 and are interested in motion controls but don't own a Wii

-gamers who want a control option for FPS / TPS that is not the controller (i.e. me)

-people who are new to gaming, want something for the family, and are interested in more then just a gaming console (PS3 MOVE bundle)

These markets are not equal and may not be big. It seems like price is a major factor, and perception of wii-mote copy is not important. SONY most likely will target their markets aggresively since they can't compete in other groups.

Pretty much.  Exclusive software drives hardware, and that's looking pretty pathetic on both sides right now.
