Nintendo's Wii Q4 right now is looking like...

  • Kirby's Epic Yarn
  • Donkey Kong Country Returns
  • Wii Party
  • PokePark Wii: Pikachu's Adventure (EU gets it next month though)

... so 2 sidescrolling platformers and 2 minigame collections. :/

Honestly, I think there's a big opening there for an RPG like Graces or Xenoblade.  Or even something like Reginliev.

So these are the games confirmed so far? it's a lot simpler than i expected. Not even FlingSmash? Now i am a bit more worried. The games are looking good but i believe there's room for a bit more in that lineup. I take it Xenoblade still has a vague TBA 2010 then? I hope Nintendo sort this out, i really think they would benefit more if they had a nice, big RPG for Q4.

Xenoblade is just TBA.  For NA, it's not even on the EU schedule yet.

FligSmash was "summer 2010" last I remember for NA, dunno about EU, but now I'm not sure if that's still the case?  If it comes in Q4 though, it's still technically a sidescrolling action game (making it Nintendo's 3rd for Wii in the period).  NOA/NOE need to diversify thing a bit. :/

I never played a Tales game. Which one should I start off with if I do decide to get into it?

I've only played Symphonia on the Gamecube and I found that amazing.  The difficulty is good, it is really lenthy (even by J-RPG standards), good soundtrack and very good storyline.

I liked Abyss best, then Eternia, then Symphonia, then Vesperia, then Phantasia (though I've only played the crappy GBA port), then Destiny.  Haven't played any others.

It's very deserved, sadly (since I love most Tales of games). The franchise milking, delaying or skipping localization, DLC rip-offs.

At the same time I enjoyed both Vesperia and Graces a lot (those versions the management idiots for some reasons want to reject western gamers' money from). Probably my favourite JRPGs this gen. It's true that there is nothing exceptionally original about them anymore, but for quite a while they have managed to combine a good battle system (regardless whether team Symphonia or Destiny's), with a nice cast and story, so the games have remained fun and enjoyable for me.

So I really don't want for them to go down, hopefully they'll change something in their business to stay afloat.
