Just to add to what Squilliam has said, in the past I have seen electronics announced without price or release date information and have retailers all choose the wrong price and/or release date for the product in their listing. I suspect that most retailers want to make sure that the product is on their website, and they may require placeholders for release date and price, and once one retailer chooses a price they all set it to the same price.
