Forums - Microsoft - Is this still the Year for Xbox 360?

Many people have called 2010 the year of xbox 360. Well in 2010 so  far xbox 360 had alan wake and Splinter cell. But later in 2010 there will be an xbox 360 slim, crackdown 2, fable 3, halo reach, and finally kinect. Is it still the year of xbox 360. On the software side the wii and ps3 have more exclusives. However on amazon the new xbox 360 slim is number one and kinect in the top 25 even with a $150 price tag. Also we all know halo reach will sell a lot and call of duty always seem to do better on xbox 360.  What do you guys think?

Maybe? Am I allowed a maybe here?

It doesn't look at all that bad personally, however come November 15 or so we should know for sure. Between middle of November and the end of December is when people generally decide if its the year of X console.

Tease.

looks like a pretty good year

Damn straight it is!

It's opinion and depends on your personal taste. For me it never was the year of the 360. I still have to buy Mass Effect 2, but expect for that nothing really interests me.

I think if 3DS launches this year then it will be the year of the 3DS. If not I think it will definatly be the year of the X-Box. At least for me 360 will get most of my money!

Let me know if 3DS is coming out this year.  It has more thunder among gamers than Kinect at this point.

It also had Mass Effect 2 this year as a console exclusive and there have been a number of massive third party multiplatform titles too.  I don't subscribe to the "Year of" talk anyway, it's stupid.  The 360 will have a stronger year this year than last and that will be an impressive feat for a old console imo.

I think it will be a tough year to call on games; so far I can say that I've clocked more hours in Mass Effect 2, Alan Wake and Splinter Cell than God of War 3, Heavy Rain or [insert other PS3 2010 exclusive here]...but we're only half way through the year.  I think MS needs a $150 Arcade and a $250 360 Arcade/Kinect bundle to take the holidays in sales and cement second place.

It's going to be a close call this year, especially versus last year where Sony was the clear cut winner to me - but things change.

It really depends on what kind of games do you like. To me It's like this:

Alan Wake vs Heavy Rain

Mass Effect 2 Fable 3 vs pick the top PS3 exclusive RPG this year and It's runner up to be fair.

God of War doesn't really have a equivilient. Well I guess Dante's inferno is but, meh..

AAA exclusive of Halo Reach vs Gran Turismo - Do you want a awesome racer or a awesome FPS? I'd say It's a tie for that.

Joy Ride vs Mod Nations? I guess?

Third party support/exclusives - They seem to be both pretty even.

Downloadable games - I've yet to see a year where the PS3 has really destroyed with PSN vs XBLA downloads. XBox Live Arcade has always had a good edge, and I'm sure this year won't be any different especially if the Castlevania game ends up being exclusive.

Then theres the whole Kinect vs Playstation Move. I'm going to side with Kinect despite my dis-interest in all the titles. Why? I already got a Wii and putting it in HD just doesn't do enough for me.

I'm giving a solid edge to the 360 for now. Sony could have made the competition a lot closer by releasing Infamous 2, Killzone 3 and Twisted Metal all this year but they delayed them to next year. 2011 is going to be tough with all those titles along with the rumored Uncharted 3. It's pretty much just a matter of waiting on reviews now because we know what the rest of this years line up will look like baring any last minute surprises (where are the damn RPGs?)

It's just that simple.
