Earlier in the day, Sony confirmed that cross-game chat will not be a feature of PlayStation Plus, but they never confirmed or denied if it would make an appearance in the upcoming firmware that will go live on June 22nd. After a little waiting, Sony has responded to the inquiry of the feature launching next week. 

Sony: "While we don’t comment on potential future announcements, we are always assessing the addition of new options to expand and enhance the gaming experience on the PS3."

You can interpret that as you will. It's not a denial nor does it confirm the possibility. What is does tell us, though, is that Sony is well aware of what we want to see added to PSN and they are committed to making PSN a great experience for all PS3 gamers. Seriously? they said this same fucking thing last e3 and right before the slim launched, and rightbefore christmas, and every other time one of these x chat rumors comes around, but i guess if you says deny it = true enough times eventually it will happen.
