Because you're reading posts by the same people who hyped up every other PS3 exclusive.

It looks great and Sony is doing their part to hype it up.

So people are interested. If you like FPS's you should be pretty interested in how this one turns out.

Ill even say that Killzone 2 will be lucky to even match Sony's own Resistance that they shouldve hyped more at launch in 2006 instead of focusing on all the games that will come out in 2008 and beyond.

 Yeah so true! The real reason I own a PS3. When they launch that game I'll forgive Sony for asking 600€ for my PS3.

well it has a mega huge budget( record holder) , great visuals and
positive reviews from all the reviewers i have seen and read.

With all that stated above i would be inclined to believe it would achieve greatness.
If not sony's pretty much screwed, it would drop 3rd party developer confidence on the ps3,
if a huge budget and team cant even make a great game.

If they do succeed, then they will show that the ps3 has a lot of power
making more developers confident about the ps3's horsepower.
Sony would also have a new engine to sell. and if they sold the engine
very cheap(even free) they would have  a lot more good looking exclusive games on the ps3

Well Lair , Heavenly Sword and Uncharted were also mega budget and heavily hyped games that didnt sell to expectations. I understand that they all may still hit a million sold over a long period of time, but they were supposed to have Gears of War type sales and move consoles.

I think the budget of those 3 & Killzone 2 are VERY DIFFERENT!

Not only that but Killzone 2 has been their "darling" for the hyping n all their "T3H CELL IS POWERFUL" statements....

Resistance now has a big fan base a positive track record and did move consoles. Killzone so far is a IP thats a money sink hole with from a unproven developer with a huge budget.
