I love your PS3 threads eugene, but I have to agree, I think Home is going to fail miserably. Home doesn't look user friendly, and way too overcomplicated for the services it should be providing. I want to just watch a movie, or jump in a chat with someone, its super easy using XBL, and the dashboard. I don't want to have to wade through a bunch of random avatars, walk into a theater to watch a movie, or walk somewhere else to get something else done. It sounds cool, but I am willing to bet the implementation is going to be sloppy and people just won't buy in to it, I don't care if it is free.

Currently Playing:

Ok, lets face it, the reason why Myspace and Facebook is popular

1. Everyone has it already and all your friends are already on it. Meeting people you dont know is weird.

2. Social networking is fun if there are girls in it. A community of 99% guys is really weird for social networking outside of prison.

If weird was a problem, we wouldn't have World of Warcraft.

im sorry but what is the connection? i don't see it

People meet other people that they don't know all the time there.

I'm a mod, come to me if there's mod'n to do.

Serves me right for challenging his sales predictions!

Bet with dsisister44: Red Steel 2 will sell 1 million within it's first 365 days of sales.

World of Warcraft is a game, just like Halo 3 is a game. There is no connection to Home or Xbox live. But the selling points of Home is social networking like a 3d myspace, but if fails cause its mostly strangers, no girls, and maybe a feeling of pointless. Just play the game!

i bet it's gonna attract alot of girls

Instead of seeking to convince others, we can be open to changing our own minds, and seek out information that contradicts our own steadfast point of view. Maybe it’ll turn out that those who disagree with you actually have a solid grasp of the facts. There’s a slight possibility that, after all, you’re the one who’s wrong.

Girls dont want a PS3, they want a Wii. The system first has to attract girls, then they will use Home, it doesnt work the other way around.

The Black Onyx ads, and the Play Beyond ads do nothing to attract girls.

I don't think it will fail, I think it's being done in order to replace the time that you'd spend surfing in social networks between play sessions. instead of turning off your PS3 you'd stay using it, now "at" Home.  it has a chance to fail, but being the PS3 social network, I believe it won't, just like there are people that can spend more time downloading demos from Live than playing "real" games.

the words above were backed by NUCLEAR WEAPONS!

 Fixed.

In the end, social networking will fail incredibly without girls. The end. Most guys wont waste a second of their time socializing with guys unless they are playing a game with an objective.
