disolitude likes his PC, dont hate on him cos he likes playing his Wii games in 1080P 3D, and likes spending mega bucks to do that. after all he only posts when he needs to about how good his pc is and how he loves 3D gaming ya know...

Why don't you go post in one of darths Final Fantasy threads and let grown men talk about 3D?

@SolidSnake

Talking about 3D gaming and not menitoning the PC is like ignoring the elephant in the room. Or like ignoring Wii console sales.

Making statements like "Next gen is the 1080p 3D gen" is just downright false. Gaming on the PC is a huge market, is doing 1080p, and while you may choose to ignore it, isn't going anywhere. Especially when it comes to 3D...

And its not too expensive. You can get a PC rig and surround yourself with 3 24 inch 3D monitors or get 80 inch DLP projector screen set up, play all the latest games in mindblowing 3D, watch 3D blurays...for less than 3000 dollars. Most new 3D TV's start at 2000 dollars and up so I don't see why you choose to ignore 3D PC cost wise...

Also, to go back to our previous topic, its been confirmed on AVSforums, Nvidia forums and sony forums that PS3 requires HDMI 1.4 handshake to show 3D for the 4 games. It does not work on HDMI 1.3. PS3 does not need or have HDMI 1.4, but it requires the TV to have it. You can make the conclusion to why...

But the good news is that people already have workarounds using HDMI detective tools in fooling the PS3, Direct TV and all other HDMI 1.4 devices...

the statement "Next gen is the 1080p 3D gen" was just out of excitement as all players will be doing 1080p and 3D next gen,i don't know what it meant to you

PC gaming is not a big market compared to consoles

yeah it does the latest in tech and everything but what i meant was that we will see 3D in all the popular and beloved franchises on console and which do not come to PC

PC game sales aren't as big as consoles, but if you count all the Video card sales, cool gaming accessory sales, gaming monitor sales, 3D glasses sales and other stuff associated with PC gaming, it easily matches the revenue being spent on consoles.

As far as your second point, you can already play ALL 360/PS3 games with a 3D effect, using a pc and a 3D TV. Be nice and I can tell you how... :)

yeah but those PS3/360 GAMES IN 3D AREN'T AS GOOD AS THE ORIGINALLY MADE 3d GAMES as they were meant for a 2d screen

You are correct. Effects are about 50% as good as when compared to a 3D certified game like Metro 2033... But its a fun experience nevertheless.

Depends on the game really. Some games look mindblowing actually... Sonic Adventure 2 on the dreamcast for example looks like it was made for 3D. As does Metroid Prime 3 on the wii...

Maybe this is what Microsoft has in store for 3-D?

http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/109/1096419p2.html

It would explain all the hush-hush about Natal and why we have only seen the "Ball" game so far.  It could also explain the rumored $150 price tag.  Motion controls and 3-D for $150 would be awfully cheap.

I doubt that MS will implement that form of 3-D.  While it is interesting, it requires you to be in constant motion to achieve the effect.  If you simply sat/stood still, the effect would be lost.  So, basically, every single game using it would have to be like Police 911 for it to work.  If every game was like that it would get old fast.

@ disolitude

HDMI 1.4 is not a requirement for 3-D.  1.3 is sufficient.  However, every cable and device that the signal passes through must be high speed HDMI compatible.

yes HDMI 1.4 is not needed but what he meant was that SONY for PS3 locked out old 3DTV's with HDMI 1.3

and the new HDMI 1.4 WITH BACKWARD COMPATIBLITY will do PS3 3D and all news 3DTV's have HDMI 1.4

its just that many of the software upgradtion and thing how 3D data is sent over an HDMI were included in HDMI 1.4 but that can be upgraded by software like PS3 firmware upgrade ithout the wire or PORT on PS3 being HDMI 1.4 and pther Hardware upgrades in HDMI 1.4 weren't needed for 3D.

Yes we can still make PS3 do 3D over 3DTV's with HDMI 1.3 port but the data packaging and sending method used by ps3 has been chnaged so hackers will have to work on it.

I will be the first to tell you the bolded part. Believe me I know its not a requirement. Actually HDMI 1.2 is sufficient for 720p 3D.

However PS3, Direct TV (which doesm't even use frame packing 3D but side to side) all do not turn 3D on unless plugged in to a HDMI 1.4 port. Its a artificial limitation which is there to make you buy a new TV...

Only when you buy a new HDMI 1.4 TV, and plug it in to a direct TV box will you get the following message from their 3D broadcast

Same with PS3...m 3D capable viewsonic montor can do the 3D that sony is outputting with PS3, nut sony will not let me use it since its missing HDMI1.4
