Hey I was wondering what programs any of you guys use to rip dvds to make digital copy backups? I have made some before but it just doesn't seem like the quality is high enough.

if it's just for archival purposes you could try using something like Daemon tools to create a disk image that would save full quality but large files. As for proper ripping I haven't really done much ripping, But you could try Handbreak I know people that use it.

I use Xiisoft DVD ripper, its pretty easy to use but im not sure if its the best or easiest to use out there.
Tease.
Thanks for the suggestions, I have used DVDFab in the past but I completely forgot about it, it works wonders. One of my main problems though was that it sometimes splits the video into multiple vob files but I have a perfect vob merger program now.
I'm using Super to convert th files, which is cool because I always got errors when I tried to convert them with it before.
I use handbrake svn on linux. A recent encoder comparison by MSU ( http://compression.ru/video/codec_comparison/h264_2010/ ) shows the superiority of it's underlying encoder, x264. Many options and presets are available, as well as lossless mode.
I'm not a fanboy, I just don't enjoy dual analog control. It's d-pad or wii-mote for me.
the conduit has changed the way wii play games.
I know. I'm sick of the puns too.
if you want to make a full 4gb copy with whole menu and everything then use DVD image software
if you are trying for those video movie only 700mb ones on torrents then you need a video editor
^Yeah I think the main problem I was having was finding a high quality converter to go from VOB to whatever, Super is working for me now so everything is good!

mmm that is probably something that i faced at one time too. It has also been a while since i have used it.
Super is the program? I am going to have to check that out.

Kinect!
who needs video games!
Yeah it is a great free converter that deals with audio and video with 50 or so codecs, but it is stingy if the video you want to convert isn't a certain pixel size ratio.
