i dont think cover systems noobs up games or pamper gamers

to me they make the game and gameplay feel more real

when i want to take cover behind a pillar or wall id rather be close to it and have the view of either side rather than run up to it and stare at low textures while moving side to side so i can see whats happening, next time ur being shot at in real life tell me what you did i bet you werent standing looking at a wall or pillar you were huddled up to it

im going to watch the AI do all these cool looking moves and blind fire while the player just gets to crouch? totally takes the realism out for me and makes the gameplay feel limited to me

FPS devs need to step up its 2010 now not the 90s time to evolve and add more gameplay mechanics why make the AI do something the player cant?

Sony fans underwhelmed about a multiplatform?

Nothing new under the sun.

What are you talking about?

Crysis 2 looks better than any console game. Even in this clipped footage. It's apparant by all the real world dynamics you can see. Impressive tech.

I would have liked to have seen the footage of the 360 playthrough the media saw. As in alltogether in 1 go. But I guess we will have full proper footage at E3.

No doubt in my mind Crysis 2 will be the graphics king on release. No console game will touch it.

Thats My opinion of course. So it's a moot subject.

Loved the look of Vanquish. Does it have elements of Gof Of War in it? The whole catching the missle and swinging it into the boss?

Cant wait for both games.

I will say was expecting more than a few quick clips of Crysis 2 though.

Must I remind you that there's Killzone 3 coming out? Maybe graphics king on 360, but not on ps3..Then again, there's gears of war 3 coming out, so i don't know if it will be graphics king on consoles at all. Hold your horses man.

For either of those games to win over Crysis 2 they will have to up the sacale MASSIVELY from there previous games. Not to mention the bullets effects on all surfaces. Crysis 2 does everything in realtime. We already know from the media playthrough they had that nothing is preset. And that walls, buildings all are crumbling different on each playthrough.

Sorry, but what if Crysis 2 looks like that and does everything in realtime. KZ3 and GeoW 3 dont stand a chance imo. Could be wrong, but I doubt very much a game will beat Crysis 2 until someone else uses the CryEngine 3 this gen.

That's why it's preferable to at least catch a glimpse of both KZ3 and Gears of War 3 but I have no doubt, both games will blow us away. Gotta admit that it is graphics king in the FPS genre, as of right now.

And that is exactly the noob and pampering part of cover. You get to see what's going on without the danger of being shot at. If that's not noob pampering, i don't know what would be.

Its getting so sad when I see people argue about which FPS looks better and completely neglect gameplay.

From what I saw...Vanquich, Fear 3 and red faction 3 have more interesting gameplay than Crysis 2. Crysis 2 looks so boring...a 1 trick pony.

Even upcoming games like Singluarity look more user engaging and fun to me... but if you like to look at posihed up polygons, sure Crysis 2 will rule.

Honestly, all 3 looked extremely similar and bland. Vanquish was the only one that wasn't a run of the mill mediocre shooter like all the rest that have come out since '05.

This makes me really sad for FEAR 3 since the original was such a great game in everything except enviroments. All FEAR games since that have gotten from mediocre to just plain bad, and this one doesn't look like it will do justice to the original either. Also wtf? Point Man was a hobo?

I guess... but the last red faction was quite awesome and adding aliens can only mean good things. FEAR 3 looks like it won't be worth a hair on the ass of FEAR 1 but at least it has a new coop mechanic which could be fun to explore. Remember, hobo's kill for food... :)

Crysis 2 on the other hand looks a lot like downscalled version of Crysis 1. Smaller environments, worse AI...any time I am in trouble, just hit cloak and wait...kind of game.

Wow can't believe you played crysis 2 already :P .

For all you know the AI could be great, the environments are going to be huge, and that cloak thing might not work so well last for as long as you want.

Plus dont you think all the differnt options of the nano suit will at some kind of stratagy to the way you play and how you take on different missions within the game?.

to me imo Crysis 2 is looking to be the best out of the lot and i dont just mean in graphics, but i really like the things they are doing with the nano suit and the options you are giving, i think you're the one cutting it short before you even get a chance to try it/see more of it..

I am sorry, but the environments will NOT be huge. Huge was Crysis 1 on a tropical island. This is set in a city. It doesn't take a genius to realize that the environments will be small. Also, I haven't seen much difference between Crysis 2 and 1 so it's pretty safe to assume tons of things.

Have you even played Crysis 1 at all for you to be acting so all knowing?

me acting all knowing? how so?, by saying the AI could be great?, that the environments will be huge?, by saying i like what they are doing with the Nano suit?.

and sure the environments wont be as big as Crysis 1, but thats no reason to think they will be as small as most other FPS, after all you have all of NY city to go around in.

and how is it safe to assume a game will be bad or have bad AI etc before you have even played it?.

and as for you're last question yes i have played crysis 1 on medium settings :P .

As I stated, this game does not seem all that different than the first one. It seems most of the work was done on shoehorning the engine on the consoles. That said, I there probably will not be any significantly improvement to the AI , or better suit mode integration, or really anything big changing all that much from Crysis 1.

As for the environments, we are comparing it to an entire island, that means that the environments are indeed small.

Ah now i get it, Pc guy who hates the fact the game is now coming to consoles, was i talking to you before?, i think i was.

Really it doesn't? new envirement?, Already stated you can customise the suit to you're play style or likeing, already says the will be many more new poweres?.

So you're telling me you would like to be running around on an island again? after doing it in the first Farcry, and crysis, i think its time for crytek to change the setting dont you?, something that they have done.

To me it seems more like you're grudge is with this being on consoles more so then anything else.

And you still have not even seen the PC version yet, who is to say the PC version wont blow Crysis 1's Graphics out the water?, i bet you will be prasing it then if it looks 5X better then the console versions and 3X better then Crysis 1...

Yes and no. Crysis 1 was a shitty game and only looked good. It didn't need the help of the noob pampering that goes on in the console games for it to be ruined.

You are now completely dodging the argument. The argument is that the environment will be smaller. You only tried to justify it, not provide arguments to your, obviously wrong, original argument (haven't played the game so how do you know).

They could have done it in a locale different than an island, but still as expansive. Or have just one part of the game take place in the city, or even better, the city being a small part of the entire locale. As for the PC version looks, the fact that the enviroment is small only shows that it is only technologically equivalent to the original since it takes so much less processing power to render a few blocks of buildings than an island. They really need to pull a rabbit out of their hat to redeem the small spaces they are displaying.
