When I use my headset, sometimes I have people talking out of my tv, it's very scary.

I guess you can always mute the tv. I don't think that muting the tv will effect the headset audio

But then would you get the game audio? Sure I can cut off sound but wouldn't want to miss out on that.

So you want the tv audio to come through your headset along with people talking?
I am not sure how to do that, I used to own and a ps3 and I had the official headset and I was only able to get people talking to come over my headset.
Sorry for not being of help.

Here you go, the answer to your problems is this headset
You hook up the audio directly out of the PS3 to this headset, and it has separate volume controls for both in game audio and in game chat
can anyone suggest some good noise canceling earbuds with microphone(for the psp)? kindly explain your choices.
I use the Astro A40 headset. It's a professional gaming headset with 5.1 surround sound and the best audio quality out there for gaming headsets. It is also universally supported by 360, PS3, and PC for both audio and microphone needs!
