Forums - Microsoft - Xbox 360 marketing when Natal/Wave releases this fall

First pricepoints

Assume the $149.99 price point for Natal and $299.99 for 360 bundle that includes Natal.

Round out the SKUs for the 360 and fill in the blanks with what is included. How should MS advertise?

Xbox 360 $149.99 would include 8GB USB Flash Drive.  2 bundled games included.

Xbox 360 Natal $299.99 would include a 8GB USB Flash Drive. 2 bundled Natal games included.  1 being a fitness title and 1 being a minigame title.  For same price as Wii and WiiFit+.

I think you do away with a 360 that includes the HDD in the box.  Simply sell it as an add-on for $100 no matter what the current size is.  The 8GB flash drive allows people to go home and everything day 1.  Sure if they start downloading movies (not stream) they may need to go purchase a HDD, but they will be up an running without it.

As for advertising and Marketing. MS needs to advertise to the women.  First off 30 second TV spots need to emphasize women using the Natal for moving through menus and choosing options in movies and TV as well as games.  Dancing with thier kids, working out, etc.  Secondly I believe the Natal needs an infomercial("P90X360").  I have gotten very into working out this year and WiiFit just doesnt cut it much anymore.  It simply isnt intense enough.  The body tracking that the Natal allows for should provide a much more rewarding workout software solution. Of course the informercial has to show all sorts of things, not just exercise.

Microsoft didn't launch Games On Demand just to not sell any console that could make use of the feature due to space restrictions. There is no way they will drop the harddrive from the main SKU as there is too much many to be made on DLC with a big HDD imo.

People will purchase the HDD for the DLC.

The important thing is to minimize confusion for the sales process. In my opinion MS needs the $149 price point this fall. Really can only do that with the equivalent of the arcade model. 4 SKUs will be just to confusing and difficult for retailers.

$149 Arcade equivalent
$299 with Natal
$249 Elite equivalent
$399 Elite with Natal

That is just to many SKUs.

Maybe they up the size to 16GB flash drive. I really do believe that MS introduced the ability to save to a USB device for a reason. They werent really under any pressure to do so.

I think that they will probably remove the SKUs that do not have natal, so that will bring it down to 2.

  Kinect! who needs video games!

@calvinandhobbes

So you think they will have

$299 Arcade equivalent with Natal
$399 Elite equvalent with Natal

I dont think MS will abandon the sub $200 price point.

They will advertise it like it's the next coming of Jesus...and it will work too, just look at the ipad

I believe all existing Skus will go. All 360's from launch will sell with Natal. One with HDD and one without.

Oh and it will be a new Slimlined version to. So cheaper to develop. And the prices will stay the same.

MS wants Xbox 360 at $149.99. I really believe that.

I am starting to think that maybe they will have the following

Microsoft Xbox 360 Arcade $149.99
Microsoft Xbox 360 Elite $249.99 250GB HDD

Then totally brand the Wave bundles separatly
Microsoft Wave $199.99 with no standard controller
Microsoft Wave w/HDD $299.99 with no standard controller

Of course the box for the 360 would say also plays Wave games with Wave controller sold separatly. Wave box would say also plays Xbox 360 games with Xbox 360 controller sold separatly.

Does it seem viable that M$ release a cheaper to make slimmed version ( going by the rumours ) Which will have Natal with all 360's? I cant see M$ keeping sku's with no Natal. I seem to remeber M$ hinting at Natal with every 360.
