There's always been something vaguely keytar-ish about plastic videogame guitar controllers, but now it looks like Rock Band 3 may be getting the "real" thing. A demo for Green Day: Rock Band is now available on Xbox Live, and when you quit out of it, you're shown the image above (as captured by "JoeCamNet" on his Destructoid blog) -- which clearly includes an icon representing piano keys.

This little icon shows up next to the standard Rock Band icons for guitar, bass, drums, and vocals, suggesting Rock Band 3 will indeed add piano (or keyboard, or keytar, or maybe all three depending on the needs of any particular song) to the instrument lineup. This is in addition to the previous reveal that Rock Band 3 will include the vocal harmonies introduced in The Beatles Rock Band (and confirmed above with the icon showing three mics).

That means that when playing a full band in Rock Band 3, you'll apparently have guitar, bass, drums, lead vocals, two back-up vocals, and keyboard -- seven people in total. So when Harmonix recently teased that "you'll be surprised at just how big [Rock band 3] really is," it looks like they literally meant it in terms of the ridiculous amount of physical space it will take up in your living quarters.

Can't wait till Activision take this cool idea from them and rape it mercilessly
