I think what DmeisterJ was trying to say is that he is using the marketleader the Wii to show that the PS3 is starting a turnaround. Which is a fair comparision however many posts of his indicating excitemnet at beating the Wii.

However I still feel that the increase of the PS3 sales in Japan is entirely due to sales spike because of a Price Drop and that the spike has been sliding and should level off this week due to pre holiday shopping in Japan. Meanwhile the Wii will begin to see a sales spike due to Wii Fit which will be carried through by Holiday shopping. the question will be how well Wii Fit propel long term sales will it be long enough for Wii Music to come out? Will it have a Nintendogs/Brain Age effect like it did for the DS. Will the PS3 be able to maintain 25K+ a week after the holidays? The Wii sales have been down for a long enough time that it can said they are down but the PS3 sales haven't been up long enough after a new color/price cut combo to say they are up for the long term. there is no guarantee of a turn around for any system.

All I can say is that japanese sales look normal you know like the Pre DS days. The DS was sick constantly selling over 100K a seek even in September even with the recent sales slump the DS was still way above normal way above top sales fro a maintained average. The PSP has performed great but the weeks it beat the DS was due entirely to a redesign it took about a month to level off.

The point here is that from what I understand Sony is still losing money on the PS3 and this is their last card they can play for a long long time. The Wii could probably drop to 149 next week and Nintendo would still be fine.

Sony had to put all of its cards on the table to spike above the competition while Nintendo still has their full hand.

To be honest the 50 posts every week that say PS3 has beaten Wii/XBOX are just pathetic. There wasnt a thousand threads a week every time Wii/XBOX won over PS3 or DS beat PSP. Sure there was the occasional OMGdzz the DS sold x amount post with several thousand replies to how much the PSP was owned or wahtever. I think its the general fact that people are making hourly new threads on how the PS3 is doing ok.

Neither do I, all I have to say is "ZOMG - the Wii is better than the PS3 threads are much better than this"

How are ppl surprised that the average buyer cares about price more than BC? It might not be good for someone who wants to get rid of their PS2 when getting a PS3, but for Sony this was something they had to do to reduce which is their number 1 goal.

Well, according to Media Create the party is over - the Wii outsold the PS3 last week. With the release of Wii Fit, the Wii could really take off again now, let's see how it goes.

Fighting back? Could you be more melodramatic? If the Wii was selling 70K and the PS3 was selling 10K, it doesn't mean anything extraordinary that now it sells 50K and the Wii sells 40K. What it means is that people in Japan would rather pay the extra couple hundred bucks to play the same games on the PS3 that they could on the 360 just because they are xenophobes. People in Japan have strange ways. Who knows why they do what they do.

We'll see just how long this short lived trend will last.

I dont mind the PS3 doing better. I'm glad its seeing the light of day. But when PS3 Fanboys announce it to the world when we all see it on the front page anyway, it gets repetitive. By the 3rd week of threads stating the obvious, it gets VERY annoying. Like I said in another thread, once the Wii starts selling like hotcakes again in Japan, I will post a thread every week just so you know how it feels. ( I really wont but you get my point)

You mean well, but its like you are rubbing in a small victory when losign the war. And its even worse when posters liek leo j are the ones posting 5 topics a day about the same thing. ( I remember like 3 threads the first week PS3 outsold Xbox 360 WW and Wii in Japan in one day, all by him)

I think most people mistook that happiness of PS3 selling better, for bias in that PS3 was going to dominate now. I made that same mistake and DMeisterJ and I have convened our misunderstandings.

I think it was difficult for the Wii side to take in as they had outsold the PS3 in Japan for about 50 weeks, and when PS3 gets 2-3weeks, they wonder why they make such a big deal about it. But when you look at if from the other side it is a big deal. It's like if GC outsold the Ps2 last generation for jsut one day haha.

So just a bunch of misunderstandings from all sides caused this.
