Forums - Gaming - Trophies/achivemnets should be optional

So the trophy/achievement is jumping out of your console, tying up your family and friends, dangling them off a cliff and pointing a gun to your head threatening to kill everyone if you don't get those completed?

Didn't think so.

It's not trophies/achievements forcing you to do those things, it's your OCD.

No I don't.  Trophies and achievements don't force you to do a damn thing.  You force yourself to do them.  Badgenome was right, it is your own OCD (obsessive-compulsiveness) that makes you THINK you have to do them.  You can outright ignore them all together and they won't come after you, I promise.

"They force you to some of the most b.s. things"

no they don't.

You must not have played ninja gaiden sigma 2, 1000 kills with each weapon is a bronze....the online trophies are a whole different pile of dog poo.

That's a completely different topic than trophies/achievements should be optional.  What you're tlaking about is how some bronze trophies are really hard while others are really easy, not you have to do them.

It was an example of some of the stupid things you have to do to get them.

I'll put this the only way I know without being too rude:

YOU DO NO HAVE TO GET THEM.

You only have to do those things if you want to get the trophy.  It is in no way required to finish the game.

Calm the hell down, he's making a valid point, if you need it spelt out like that because you SIMPLY don't get it, then you deserve it.

They are NOT forced on you.

Perhaps I worded wrong, reread my opening statement, maybe them you will understand.

I play the game, i get the Trophies I get, that's it really. I almost never seek them out specifically.

the only exceptions are a few games where when I finished I thought, oh what the hell, 2 more and I get Platinum - and by few I mean 2.

I've got games where I ended up on 91% or more and I won't waste time getting the one's left - for example I am never going to take the time to find all the rock shards in inFamous, life is too short.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

I do know what you're getting at. You're just going to suck up the fact that you are not going to platinum or get 1000 points on every game. I enjoy achievements/trophies, but I usually only get what I can on one play through. It might change how I play the game (usually lengthing completion time) but I rarely go back and complete a game a second time. With all the quality software out today, there needs to be a more compelling reason than finishing off all of a games trophies/achievements to put the time in for another go around.
