It only took them 3 and a half years since release to achieve this.

Yep, that short huh?

Yep. Its only 1/3rd of their 10 year plan. Hardly any time at all!!

Thats sad considering the PSOne and PS2 both turned profits in much shorter time spans. Its almost time for the NexBox and Wii2. The PS3 was Sony;s biggest mistake in history, hopefully they learnt their lesson!

Unfortunately you may be right.

Ofcourse, not in normal echonomic conditions, but in what is (still) happening today, less expensive = much more viability.

In the comming holiday season, the possibly price reduced Wii and the Xbox360 arcade will sell the most by far. PS3 will suffer the fate of the expensive product in a recession and lag behind.

PS3 for the early part of the generation is definitely a big dissapointment financially to sony, in comparison to PS2 & PSONE. But I guess this is irrelevant if the PS3 more financially successfull in the long run, but I really doubt that it will be

I wonder if they have indeed learnt their lesson. Look at how expensive the Move controller looks to be, so whilst technically impressive yet again will it be yet another example of a relatively stillborn technology due to too much complexity and cost?

Tease.

Yeee ok, even if I believe that they are, its not like they are ever going to gain the money back that they lost since the profit that they are claiming that they are making now will be so insignificant. Sony is crazy lucky that they have other means of income, because they would have gone bust a long long time ago. Too bad Sony...maybe next gen or the gen after that they will eventually make up for the money lost. Even then they are likely to never learn from their mistakes due to their arrogance.

The only way Sony will start to make REAL money is if they start charging for some sort of subscription service.

Yeah, no. It's a profitable revenue stream for sure, but it's not a large enough revenue stream to be called "REAL money". Easy money though, if you can convince enough people to pay it.

I won't be paying any annual subscription unless it comes with some goodies of equal (to me) value.

Thats great news & a step int he right direction. I have to wonder will the rumored price cut put them back in a loss.
