Forums - Gaming - Final Fantasy - What Went RIGHT?!! (A thread to UNITE all FF Fans)!

I don't have to say anything. this video says it all.

I've liked nigh on all the FF games I've played and you are right, people complain and I complain a lot too, although that's what I mainly do in life, 'tis fun.

I am of the 3D generation of FF gamers and while I have played FF6 and admored it, I've found it hard to get into any of the others because of the 2D...ness of them. Really think I do need a DS, play me some FF3 and 4.

I may not have liked FFXIII as it wasn't like the others, FFXII still was a great game ignoring the new direction. I prefered FFX-2's battle system over FFXs (omitting the cheesiness). 9 had the best soundtrack I've heard in any game, even now. 8's junction system was great and 7 is the mark to stand up to.

Hmm, pie.

No, he doesn't have it worse.

Hope had far less to complain about, even with that stuff.

The characters I listed, they're sense of identity were stripped from them, and they realize they've been lving their entire life a lie.

At least with the l'Cie brand they could hide it like at Nautilus and still live normally. And don't give me the "Oh, I'll become a Cie'th" crap since they knew that when crystallized they'd wake up.

Look at Vivi, he had a lot more to complain about.

He was engineered, he realized that his life didn't mean anything on the cargo ship, he only had months to live, and his grandpa died.

Don't you think Vivi had it a LITTLE BIT worse?

They only found that out during the end of chapter 7 (after Hope changed).

Also, no. I don't think Vivi had it worse. Everybody in the world wanted to kill Hope & the rest of the party. They were being treated as if they were no longer human. They have been taught all of their lives that L'Cie aren't humans. Does that not fall under the "idenitiy stripped" category? Also, what do you mean "they could hide it like at Nautilus and still live normally"? They were living on borrowed time. They could never live normally knowing that at anytime, they would become a Cie'th, a monster. So, knowing all of this, lets add up the reasons why Hope had a good reason to act the way he acted during almost the first half of the game.

1.) His mother got killed because of Snow's influence

2.) He became a L'Cie, "Enemy of Cocoon", a thought to be non-human, because of someone else's actions

3.) The whole world was out for his head

4.) If he doesn't complete his focus, he will become a Cie'th (a monster). And even if he did manage to complete it, he would become a crystal (and at the time when he was "whining", he didn't know that he would eventually reawaken from it, nobody did except for Fang & Vanille).

5.) He is dealing with all of this and he is only 14 YEARS OLD.

Now, you know Vivi had most of these things as well?

1) His grandpa died

2) He wasn't human either

3) Black mages were made for war and he was thought of as something used only for war and feared

4) Black mages only have a life span of a year, and he was already six months old. And he had NO chance of returning like Hope.

5) He had the personality of a 9 YEAR OLD

So, would you still say Hope had it worse.

Was the entire world out to kill Vivi? No.

Was Vivi living in fear of becoming a monster? No.

Hope had it worse.

Vivi was ALREADY a monster.

The only thing Hope had going for him was he was public enemy #1.

We're talking about who had more to complain about, I'm pretty sure Vivi has it much worse. Remember this cutscene in FF9?

It makes Vivi feel like his life is worthless to see these black mages who were exactly like him being killed. And by what? Another black mage! Vivi's also shown later by Kuja that the sole purpose for his creation was war alone.

And you know what he finds out at black mage village? Mages stop functioning after a year, and he had been functioning for six months. So there was no hope for him at all and he knew it.

And you know that his grandfather had died very recently as well? I'm talking about a week before the game starts. So Vivi figures out that he was only a puppet made for war, only has six months to live, his life is considered worthless, and the only person in the world he loved was dead.

Do you STILL think Hope had it worse?

Every Final Fantasy Game I've bought and played I have had no regrets whatsoever. I've always approached each new Final Fantasy Game as a brand new game and not complain for example that FF XII wasn't like FF X, Squall is so boring, etc. I hardly ever compare FF games to each other because every one of them are unique and have merits and qualities of it's own.

Are you serious? The entire world tried to kill Hope. They shunned him, treated him like a monster, and tried to kill him everywhere he went. He pretty much had to sleep with one eye open since the people of Cocoon could come at him at any moment.

Your saying Vivi had only six months to live? Hope didn't even know when he would become a monster. He could become one at any moment in a split second. Imagine living every single day knowing that without a second's notices, you would become a monster. Imagine the anxiety of it all.

And this all happened because of somebody else's mistake.

Hope obviously had it worst.

Eh... Vivi >>>> Hope...

But to keep it on the positive side:

There's no way a Final Fantasy will be a 'bad game', even if one iteration dissapoints. As a game itself it will always be outstanding if you look at gaming as a whole.

I wonder how the rpgs and videogames would be now if ff1 floped, making square go to bankrupcy, eliminating big rpgs of the history

Are you BLATANTLY ignoring everything I said about Vivi?

Hope knew when he would become a monster, don't try and sell me that. The l'Cie mark gave clear indication of when.

Once again, your only reason for thinking Hope had it worst was he was public enemy #1 when I gave 4 legitimate reasons why Vivi's life was hell.
