Forums - Gaming - NMH on HD consoles underperforms compared to the Wii version

this kind of genre is supposed to appeal more to Xbox360/Ps3 users, and if you think of the cost for developing the game, yes, the game has failed much more on Xbox360/Ps3 than Wii (where it did well in the long term)

but on the other hand, the game was originally built for the Wii, so that you could use the Wii remote, and for me, NMH must be a very boring game without having to do the bloody finish with your own hands : P

btw, anyone knows what the diffrences between Wii and Ps3/Xbox350 versions are, beside motion controls removal and slight visual improvement?

don't mind my username, that was more than 10 years ago, I'm a different person now, amazing how people change ^_^

This is really not a good comparison. No More Heroes got hardly any advertising on both the 'HD' systems and Wii and wasn't expected to sell well either way. And if you look at your own data, it sold about the same on all the systems. The difference of 2,000-4,000 units is microscopic.

Now, if the title had come out for the HD systems with heavy advertising and hype and then failed to sell better, then the games would have 'underperformed'. But they didn't. They sold about the same.

This is in contrast to something like a Multiplatform title such as LEGO Star Wars or The Beatles: Rock Band which clearly sold better on Wii. That is the only time you can really make a direct comparison. When the same game is released at the same time on all the platforms.

Six upcoming games you should look into:

It seems the 360 version is the clear winner here based on userbase.

Also being the biggest loser based on actual sales.

based ona the sales, it seems like statistical tie.

Based on the sales, it seems like x360 sold 18K copies while Wii sold 22K on the first 3 weeks.

I fail to see the tie.

You faill to see it because you are looking straight at the monitor, go outside, take a deep breath, then come back and look again.

Already did that. It's raining here, so I wasn't much time outside. I played a little guitar instead thinking about it.

Now I'm back... and 18K is still being lower than 22K.

No matter how hard I try to spin that, there's not tie in here.

Sorry dude.

The margin of error alone could put the 360 ahead of the wii based on these numbers. So now I am chnging my views, the 360 actually sold more than the wii versions.

Well... this thread's title is 'NMH on HD consoles underperforms compared to the Wii version', isn't it?

But from the OP, it looks to me like the sales of the HD version of the game were 38,793 as opposed to Wii's 22,511... Right? This IS about HD vs Wii sales of the game, right? To me, 38,793 is much higher than 22,511. Why would you split the PS3 and 360 versions? They're identical, and they're both the 'HD version' of the game. This thread's just cherrypicking, really.

I have no doubt the HD NMH will never outsell the Wii version, WW, but this thread's specifically about the 1st 3 weeks in Japan, apparently. And those sales clearly show the HD version sold a lot more than the Wii original did. Almost twice as much, in fact. Not counting both HD versions combined would be like counting Pokémon Diamond and Pearl separately.

RE4 Wii didn't do as well as the PS2 version, more evidence that being a late port hurts sales, besides the fact that RE4 Wii actually had a large number of changes that made it a fresh experience even for those who played it already.

RE4 Wii (1.7m) did outsell the GC original (1.6m) though.  And it's only ~500k behind the PS2 version (2.2m), and sold 200k in the last year, so it may outperform it yet.  Also, NHM HD is arguably just as fresh an experience (if not more so), as it delivers a complete visual AND interface overhaul while RE4 just overhauled the interface.

They're identical,

They're not actually.  360 version is uncensored, while the PS3 version is censored (like the Wii original was in JP/EU).  There are also documented performance differences between the 360 and PS3 versions, and they have some differing assets.

The Margin of error can put the 360 even more low based on these numbers. So now I'm changing too my views, the 360 actually flopped much more harder than the Wii version.

If the wii version did terrible, guess what. The hd version did terrible.
If the hd version did well. Then the wii version did well.
There basically the same numbers...

By HD consoles I obviously meant PS3 and 360. Just wrote the title like that to save space. I'm wondering why my thread title is the only with two lines actually (I don't know for you, but I see the word "version" below NMH)

Either way, sales are not meant to be glued together. It's two different systems. Period.
