In a multiplatform world, an HD 5870 is overkill for every game resolution available so why not run 3 monitors? Whether or not the games look like ass to you doesn't matter. Besides if most multiplatform games look like ass to you then most games look like ass.

Most games do look like ass, and PC gamers know that the games worth playing can't be done over 3 monitors very well e.g. Crysis, STALKERS, Metro, Shattered Horizon and anything with DX11.

What's the point dishing out for 2 extra monitors and a monster of a card when all you can do with them are play console games on your PC?

Be my guest. Hold out for the two or three (maybe) titles a year which aren't multiplatform shooters and ignore the 99% of games people actually do play to try to prove a non-existant point.

Tease.

If you think the point is non-existant, clearly you don't play PC exclusives as their quality is far, far beyond that of multiplatform games. Want proof? Look at Shattered Horizon, probably the most radical FPS in years. Want lush graphics, go play Crysis. Want a mess of a game? Go play MW2, and out of those three which is multiplatform?

I do, I was playing and winning Age of Empires 3 today, before that I was playing Civ 4 and before that still I was playing Starcraft Beta. There you go, 3 PC exclusives and none of them lame FPS games.

Two things:
1i) So all FPS' are lame huh?
ii)How is Crysis and Shattered Horizon lame?

2)Clearly if you enjoy Starcraft II beta, you have very, very little history of playing RTS' and determining between quality and hyped trash.

So in short, if you like to play QUALITY games, eyefinity is just not up to the job yet due to the limitations of the GPU. Great GPU's, but not good enough to be doing 3 monitors at once for leading PC exclusives and not games which run fine on the archaic 8800GT.

PS. If you like RTS' how's DoW2 looking with eyefinity? Try not so great.

No one here has mentioned the Nvidia GTS250 which is a brilliant budget card and will out perform the ATI 5670 for similar price. If you are looking for a budget graphics card to play the latest games look no further... Make no mistake though.. this is the ONLY good Nvidia card price vs performance. It is also only DX10, but honestly at this price point you arn't going to be using DX11.

1. You have no good arguments against Eyefinity aside from cost.

2. Im a top AOE3 player so I have a pretty good idea of whats good. I can figure that out for myself without consulting the opinion of anyone on the internet.

3. Quality games huh? Theres no performance reason why you can't use it in every game. Theres no shame in turning one or two things down.

lol I really just like the eye6 because I multitask a lot and the extra monitors option without having to use 2 cards is much more ideal, when I do gaming, I still mostly do single monitor because I play online most of the time and the black bars fuck me up. Eye6 is a really good card for the performance, power draw, and flexibility to have many displays on hand at the price that it's at, ATI also has 3D gaming now as well so, not that I care about that meh.

COngratulations on ignoring ALL my points.

How are FPS' all lame, as you claimed they were? If not all, then please, how is Shattered Horizon lame? Frankly the fact you are clearly passing judgements on games you've never played the term 'lame' just shows the level of intelligence in your argument.

Which part of "THE CARDS CANNOT HANDLE 3 MONITORS AT ONCE AT 60 FPS" did you not understand? That's a VERY good reason against it, and the fact that on a lot of RTS, because of camera posistion, you get a very distored view which is of no benefit to the player. Go do your research.

Yes there are performance reasons you can't use it in every game. Seriously, go try playing Shattered Horizon, and then come back to me as clearly you are arguing from a point of total ignorance, not to mention it really doesn't work for a lot of games.

There is no shame in turning things down, but you would have to turn a lot of things OFF to get 60 FPS in many games. That takes away from the immersion of the game and eyefinity as the game now looks like jizz.

Seriously kid, go and play some PC exclusives and look up benchmarks for eyefinity and reviews of it - it's a good idea, but the chips just can't handle it.
