I found Blue Dragon enjoyable, and I felt that the ratings of the title were spot on. I can see how the style would detract from some players enjoyment, and the weak story was definitely did not help the game however it had those wonderful moments. I think the maturity in the end hurts the games sales. However that does not mean it will not be a failure. I would recommend the game to the casual, or younger player myself. The older player probably will be less enchanted however.

I consider myself lucky my last two RPGs have entertained me for a combined total of eighty hours so far. Thats ignoring the inevitable replay. Personally I am very interested in the game a real shame it isn't arriving in North America this year. I wonder how Japan will react to Mass Effect when it eventually arrives over there.

damn, FF XIII is sooo close to kicking DQ IX from the top of the most wanted list ;)

I'm not surprised the game didn't receive high ratings from the japanese reviewers , because it generally seems to be more geared to the western jrpg lovers (although that may seem to be a contradiction ...) . Western reviews of the game will be interesting.

@ Dodece - I'm sure Mass Effect will hit Japan because even Bioshock will hit japan. And I thin mass effect will do great in japan.

To me LO was always a must have. I got blue dragon because of the team that made it and it looked interesting. After playing BD for over 40 hours and beating it I can honestly say it’s a good game. It’s not "omg this is the best RPG ever", but it is a solid, good jrpg. I think I will probably like LO more since it looks more mature and the concept behind the story is a bit more interesting and unique. The voice acting sounds better than that of BD too (not that BD had bad voice acting).

Hmm isnt famitsu and famitsu 360 two different magazines?

With regard to Call of Duty 4 having an ultra short single player campaign, I guess it may well have been due to the size limitations of DVD on the XBox 360, one of various limitations multi-platform game designers will have to take into consideration-Mike B

Game trailers-Halo 3 only dissapointed the people who wanted to be dissapointed.

Bet with Harvey Birdman that Lost Odyssey will sell more then Blue dragon did.

I figured LO would get a 38 in famitsu. I wonder if 33 will stop potential buyers? As for getting rave reviews in the states, i really dont know. Minus 1 person, it seemed like most of the 1 up cast were really turned off by LO. Its on the pod cast pre TGS of 2007. Also egm had a list based on a scale of 1-4 on how games were shaping up in terms of quality, example halo 3 was a 4. Lost odyssey was a 2. Granted egm is an extension of 1 up, i think the general consensus is that LO looks gorgous but its turn based combat is a huge blemish. Meh we'll see.
The more i see (or lack there of, wheres my damn summons and limit breaks? Its an ff clone and your a fool to say otherwise) i just become more and more disappointed with it. While this game may launch in japan with 80 k (liberal estimate) numbers it wont be the game to make the 360 make a come back in japan.

Hmm remember dabaus this is supposedly not the real famitsu (please someone correct me if im wrong before i look stupid as hell) this is just famitsu-360 a magazine for 360 owners, and famitsu itself has its own scores. Also dont take famitsu reviews very serious, they give games like gundom games that high and are ABSOLUTE CRAP.

And your right 1up does not like jrpgs, least classic ones you can easily tell. 1up is really not a review site IMO i cant stand most of their reviews. Most western reviewers dont like turn based, i could easily tell you that.

In terms of summons and limit breaks i have no clue. Im guessing no summons, just powerful magic but we will see. For limit breaks, im not seeing limit breaks in terms that when your low HP or you build up. Im see it as really powerful moves that take a while to charge. One of the videos had tolen charging up his sword, it took a few turns but then he unleashed a powerful move that whiped out everything.

Still dabaus, it was 7th on most wanted list, and since thats voted by consumers thats pretty danm nice, not even BD was that high and boosted sales big time.

My question is if this is the xbox famitsu wouldnt they give it a higher score because theyre biased towards the xbox?
