Forums - Sony - Sony Patent Shows PlayStation Controller Plugged Into PSP

PSPgo lets users control PSP games with a PlayStation 3 controller. Nifty, but what if you have a regular PSP? Well, there’s this idea.

Sony Computer Entertainment America kicked around the idea of connecting a PSP directly to a standard PlayStation controller. A patent outlines two ideas. One uses a hinged PSP case locked on a regular controller. Another solution has users plug their PSP into a special controller. Ah, that brings back memories of good old video game cartridges. Both connected controllers give the PSP a second analog stick, a feature developers could utilize if this accessory ever gets released and sells like hotcakes.

Interesting but i don't have a psp so its of no concern to me whether it comes out or not.

looks interesting indeed, but I think its better if they just bring out PSP2 with 2 analog sticks or something.

If this is true, then hot dayum I'd buy one!

Should be just as simple as:

1) Plug PSP into PS3

2) PSP is displayed on TV

3) Controller automatically maps to PSP

Done

Tho this would do nothing for portability, but the patent is interesting and I wonder how likely people would use it.
