So what is the percentage during launch week of a product. Because the PS2 went from zero to 800k in one weekend. Like takkxyz says, that is effectively infinity %.

The knee-jerk reactions from some people here truly amusing.
MontanaHatchet's example is an illustration of something that the OP mentioned. Namely:
"Announcing only the percentage and hiding the actual number can only mean that the actual number is low."

I feel my post is better written and more researched then the article.. but thats my biased point of view.

a 300% sales increase in America since the beginning of November.
55,446 *4 ≈ 222 000.
If VGC numbers is in that ballbark this week, Sony does not a PR spin.

Montana only responded to the fact that the percent was higher than 245. I also had a example when the PSP rose 500 % (20k-100k) when the Crisis Core bundle came out. All we're going to show is that the percent is possible.
Of course it's possible, the average increase from Oct-Nov is 250%.
| DMeisterJ said: A) The E-Mail specifically states PS3, not playstation family B) You don't know what they're announcing. Could be, could not be... We don't know C) Uh... duh? That's PR 101, use good numbers and percents... Point? D) Um... PSP in Japan, after the slim and Crisis Core came out? E) Umm... this site is only 10,000 strong. There are over 340 million americans. This sit counts for less than .001 percent of the population. And all members aren't American. |
A) Still doesn't change the fact that Sony's has been caught massaging numbers
B) Unlikely that retailers have started to give Sony free info on sales data.
C) My point is exactly what I wrote.. no actual numbers announced can't be a good thing
D) Sorry I should of been more clear, I was comparing historical Black Friday weeks.. but I don't believe comparing it to a new model launch is a fair comparison anyways
E) 10,000 strong of raving fanboys who watch for these types of events. I don't know anyone else outside these forums who actually care if Walmart is out of stock for a special SKU.

PWNED. P.S. I was reading that chart. What is WS? |
Thank you Montana, you proved a couple of my points
PR will always hide numbers take make it look bad, for example PS only sold 259 units the week prior this amazing increase, and a % means nothing when we don't know the numbers.
Good tries! Thanks for playing!

You mean 150% (as in multiplied by 2.5).

gebx, you might want to change your sig and add busted to the 360 selling 1mil in Japan by the end of 07 because that would require over 100,000 every week for the rest of the year and that ain't going to happen.
