movies are just streamed off the disc.. no processing power or whatever looks at it.. its just reading from the disc and therefore will stay 1080P

Currently playing: MAG, Heavy Rain, Infamous

Getting Plat trophies for: Heavy Rain, Infamous, RE5,  Burnout and GOW collection once I get it.

It explains the PS3 3D aspects pretty much in its entirety.

thx for that, so the PS3 does support 1080p 3D in 24p mode , good, good

Movies in some way, 3d mandatory format for 1080p S3D is 1920x2205 in "frame packing".

Movies also have to be decoded, it requires a lot of processing power to display this in more than twice the horizontal resolution. Other old BR players won't be able to do this. PS3 already were able to decode br movies at twice the speed (48fps) that's why she can handle mandatory 3d format (and with some tricking on the hdmi 1.3 output format to meet 1.4 standards)

@ noodson )

indeed, some people are just too naive with these things, but Sony really managed to make an incredibly future proof system with the PS3

the 3d on the PS3 is just a LOL bigtime it's actually 2.5D and thats being kind and the performance deficit you will get you might as well not bother with it. This is Sonys attempt at keeping on the bandwagon for cheap on the PS3. Dont believe the hype the PS3 is just not gonna do true 3D. They even call it S3D which is a getout clause for when people realize Sony's 3D update is a con. Sony will just say but it's our own S3D format LOL
