Forums - Microsoft - Will Halo: Reach have anything for those of us who don't play multiplayer?

For those (few) gamers, like me, who just can't seem to find any lasting fun the various competitive multiplayer modes of any FPS I'm curious about what people think Reach will offer us. Dropping the idea of any multiplayer entirely for a moment, does anyone think Reach will deliver that same great experience from Combat Evolved or the foul taste that many felt Halo 3 left in their mouth? Or something in between (like ODST)?

For those who can't think of Halo without watering at the mouth over the impending battle between you and whoever wants to pick up a controller that day, I understand but I'm more interested the other pieces of Reach.

Looking at ODST and 3 I would not expect to much from the campaign. Bungie knows that online multiplayer sells their game so they will put most of their budget into that part of the game.

Well the Reach storyline from the book was amazing. Granted this is a slightly different story arc because in the book no spartan 3's were ever talked about. I think the campaign is looking to be pretty epic in scale and intensity. It also has 4 player coop (maybe more, not sure), completely customizable armor, etc.

This game will be different than any other Halo game to date and I think even people who have never actually owned a 360 or Halo themselves but just played at friends houses may pick this up finally as it begins a new story arc.

Halo 3 had an epic campaign that lasted about as long as many single player only experiences (for me at least), and on top of that the online is the ONLY FPS I play MP online, nothing else comes close. Yes, Halo:Reach will deliver for the single player.

@nightsurge

I would appreciate it if they did use some of the battles from the books... Some of them would make great gaming, atleast I think so...

Bungie has already said this will be the biggest and longest campaign they've ever done. So yes there will be an epicly awesome campaign to go through with four player co-op. Also rumors of an improved co-op version of Firefight is all over the interwebs. Trust me this game will have stuff for every type of gamer.

Oh I agree.  But they'd have to be from different perspectives since these aren't the book's characters.

I don't think there's any chance they could recapture the magic from Halo: CE. They hit on such a great epic storyline, mixed with a groundbreaking game. The atmosphere, and the way they revealed things in play, with virtually no cut scenes, this big mysterious ring world... Well, don't set the bar that high. However, based on the books, they have quite a playground in which to make an awesome campaign in Reach, so I expect its single player to blow Halo 3 out of the water.

I think its gonna be the best campaign bungie has ever made in any game yet.

They have stated they are going back to CE for inspiration. Based on the Beta's pistol, I can say that it is confirmed that they did this exact thing :)

BTW, the pistol isn't quite as powerful as the Halo:CE one, but close.
