Okay here's my story. I wasn't a PS2 owner during the PS2's glory days, actually I had a Gamecube and an Xbox. Eventually my Gamecube broke and I sold my Xbox, long story short, I got a PS2 in 2008 I believe so I could play Metal Gear Solid 2 and 3, and thats about it. '

Anyways, I hear all the time that the Ps2 was plagued with great Rpgs. So here's my question, 2 part question actually. 1)Which Ps2 Rpgs would you recommend to a guy who loves action Rpgs whether it'd be Jrpg or western rpgs. 2) Know any good online places to get good deals on these games, Amazon and Ebay seem a bit too expensive.

:D Hey Maxxpower. I can't recommend many games for the PS2, because like you, I owned a gamecube and xbox during the time. I only purchased a PS2 so I could play Okami; which is the game that, if you haven't already bought/played, I highly suggest purchasing. You should go look for a copy soon, because it's becoming very rare to find.

I never owned many RPGs at all for the PS2, but the one that I did (and still do have) is Lord of the Rings: The Third Age. If you're a Lord of the Rings fan, this game is great. It certainly has its flaws, and don't expect a great ending (the final boss is a wtf moment), but overall, I enjoyed it a lot.

Some action-RPGS I recommend:

1) Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Summoner 2: Raidou Kuzunoha vs. King Abaddon (skip the first one)
2) Valkyrie Profile 2
3) Kingdom Hearts II (skip the first one)
4) Odin Sphere
5) Yakuza 1 & 2
6) Rogue Galaxy (gameplay is solid, but the story is weak)

Before anyone mentions it, don't get Star Ocean 3; it's awful, imo.

As for the second question, I actually find Amazon and ebay to be the best places to find deals. Though you might want to check out Half.com.

Persona 3 FES and 4 are a must imo.

Edit I didn't see Action RPG: But Kingdom Hearts 1 and 2 (2 is better), Dark Cloud 2 (1 was average).

Ebay is good if you know what you're doing and know how to avoid bad sellers.

Okami (greatest aRPG of all time, besides Zelda)
Tales of The Abyss (the gem of Tales series aRPG)
Valkyrie Profile: Sylmeria (another great aRPG before Tri-Ace gone the way of Undiscoverry)
Kingdom Hearts 1 (You fall in love with Disney again)

Other great RPG:
FF X & XII (Yeah, not aRPG, but its Final Fantasy!!! Especially X being the last FF of Sakaguchi)
Persona III & IV (PERSONA!!!)
Suikoden III & V (108 Characters to employ from, wth great story)
DQ VIII (cute anime characters, retro RPG)
Shadow Hearts Covenant
Disgaea SRPG

I had never played a final fantasy before final fantasy 10, and i got that game an absolutely loved it.

Apart from that I've heard kingdom hearts games are awesome, and gladius always looked interesting to me.


try getting lucky at a local gamestop store if you have any. if not check their site every day to see what sort of random daily deal they have up as that may be your best bet to order them online from gamestop.
