No.
A lot of things fell into place, including the new look, for the sales increase the PS3 has had and continues to have.
The BuShA owns all!

MS have been updating their console enough times. Its time they should about the future other than changing the colour of the design and adding memory to their console for adding 50 to 100 bucksto the price

Not just price, also the big decrease in production cost.
That freed up a lot of $$$$ that Sony can use on game acquisition, marketing, new feature implementation, etc

not really, unless the HDD get external, at much closer to the ps2 but never smaller than that. heat issues would arrive quickly. sony managed to do because they got have practice on it, and they didn't save cost on cooling. |
Its been several years since the 360 came out, they could do it with all new hardware. They are not simply putting old hardware in a new chassis. Obviously the Wii would not have been so small if it came out a few years before it actually did.
In electronics even if things can't get more powerful, they usually get smaller. Much, much smaller. Hence why we don't all have 20Ghz processors by now, we just have a bunch of smaller processors.

I doubt they could make it as small as the Wii. Doing a quick search, the Wii uses under 20W, while the X360 uses somewhere under 150W (the original used something like 170) but I doubt they have it under 100W. They wouldn't be able to dissapate the heat with such a small design. |
For what its worth the Xbox 360 Jasper uses:
| Xbox 360 Revision | System Off | Idle | Halo 3 | Rockband 2 | Gears of War 2 | BioShock Demo |
| Xenon | 2.3W | 155.7W | 177.8W | 167.7W | 177.1W | 172W |
| Falcon | 2.8W | 101.4W | 121.2W | 112.8W | 121.5W | 115.5W |
| Jasper | 2.0W | 93.7W | 105.9W | 101.0W | 105.9W | 98.1W |
So if you figure it at 75% PSU efficiency at load, Xenon used 140W inside the box, Falcon used 95W inside the box and Jasper about 80W. Now it wouldn't surprise me if the new slim Xbox 360 leak used around 40-50W inside the box because proportionately its the largest change given its about the equivalent in hardware terms of Falcon + Jasper revisions at the same time and then some more when you consider the fusing of two or three chips together.
Tease.

yep. also, smaller = less power = less heat.
now, i don't think that microsoft will spend the money to make it the size of the Wii, but i'm sure they could.
