Just curious about the opinion of the vgcharterz. I personally have to say that IT WON'T HAPPEN. that's my opinion, what about yours. I'm not talking about a new console. I'm talking about something similar to the PS3 slim.

I doubt it because, Microsoft didn't do it last gen. Although they are doing better this gen so they might, but only to cut manufacturing costs (like sony). (which could reduce cost, which could reduce price)

yes if not Xbox 360 will be in third place this gen. Its do or die for microsoft.

hmm, and also, it would be an intelligent decission if they don't plan to release xbox (3rd one), so soon, like they did xbox->360, which would be this year or next year? I'm probably wrong.

Natal is targetted at mainstreamers (sorry hardcore gamers but even if Natal supporst you it obviously is supposed to capture a new audience). So most of the potential 360 owners currently have a Wii or a PS2 in the living room. I think the 360 is just too big to fit into their image of what a family console looks like. I dont think Natal will be such a revolution that it can sell on functionality alone. Microsoft needs a smaller console but I don't know if they agree with me on that so I voted ''I don't know''.

The original xbox lasted 4 years from 2001 to 2005, so the 360 should have already been replaced in 2009 if Microsoft wanted to get a new one out every 4 years. But the original xbox was only replaced because it stopped selling, Microsoft was the first on the market with a nextgen (HD) console and because of that they've been able to stay ahead of the PS3. I'm sure they'll release their next console before the PS4 to use the same trick again but the PS3 is supposed to last until 2016. I doubt they'll succeed as Microsoft and Nintendo also decide when a new generation starts and Sony doesn't want to miss out. But I think it is safe to say that the 360 will stay in out living rooms for atleast a few more years.

A lot of people keep saying it's coming out of pure hope/guessing/whatever, but I am still waiting for proof/confirmation. Mostly rumors so far.

I think it's very likely to happen. It worked wonders for sony, so why not do the same? The natal launch also helps.
