Forums - Gaming - Why do people dislike easy games?

Many people put down games just because they are easy, but what is so bad about game being easy?

If a game is hard it is usually frustrating and that is not how I want to play games! Games are for fun and for relaxing/getting away from the real world!

What is bad is if a game is short, but not if it is easy! I would much rather prefer games to be easy and long... and for it to be challenging it doesn't have to be hard, it might be a puzzle or something like that where you don't get frustrated! A perfect example here would be "Shadow of the Colossus" where the challenging part is to find how to kill the colossus NOT the gameplay itself!

Another good example of a easy and long game is Resident Evil 4... I would want to mention GTA: San Andreas too but some people will not agree about it being easy!

The same reason people like hard puzzles.

It's the frustration of being challenged, and the satisfaction of completion. Nothing complicated about it.

I love easy games, just like a love hard games. I always play a game either on easy or hard. I hate normal, its not easy to the point where your kicking ass and having fun, but its not hard enough to give anyone a challenge.

Easy = Hard > Normal in my book.

No, about getting frustrated I mean because of failure and having to do it over and over again, while puzzles ARE challenging but you do not get frustrated because you do not fail!

yes games are ment to be fun that is why we have something call difficulty, people who like playing the game withought frustation play on normal or easy, others play on hard or very hard. the difficulty of the game makes some people come back.

some games have one difficulty and the game is too easy, that makes the game feel bad. on my 2nd playthrough of god of war i played on easy to get a trophy. it wasnt as fun as my 1st playthrough although with all the items i could use from the very start. it sucked out the strategy of the game. hard games make you think, hard games needs skill, playing with skill is funner.

whats funner mashing buttons while having no idea what you are doing or using combos, dodging doing spells and other moves?

I assure you, if a game is harder the playthrough would seem even longer.

1. Ego, people like to brag that they did, accomplished and finished stuff that other people couldn't.

2. Maybe for some people easy games are easy to forget.

3. Like I said, if there is challenge, you will be forced to play the game some more.

4. Some people like to be tested, rise from failure, try new strategies to beat that which poses before them as a challenge. There is satisfaction once you achieved success.

Nintendo is selling their IPs to Microsoft and this is true because:

when you can't accomplish a puzzle you fail. their is nothing wrong with frustation i hate it, but deep down i really don't mind an enjoy it.

Well for me it is true as long as first time I can play the game on "easy" and THEN if I really like the game I will play it again on "hard"!

And that is why it sucks if an average is hard because I just never bother to complete the game!

I don't hate easy games, but it's harder for them to keep my interest if they're not offering me a reason to pay attention.

Also, there's a difference between "hard" and "impossible." Just because a game is hard doesn't mean it's frustrating.

Tag - "No trolling on my watch!"

because your done faster with easy games which makes it feel like a waste of money.

Example is Fable 2, awesome game love everything about it but because its so easy it feels so short.

Other example is Ninja Gaiden 2, doesn't have nearly half the content as in fable 2 but your gonna spend almost the same time finishing it on hard.
