Forums - Microsoft - Alan Wake - Marketing?

I just want to start off saying the buzz on the internet for Alan Wake this past week is going through the roof. This could help translate into some etra sales, but what about marketing?

Is Microsoft planning to market this game at all? I can't actually remember the last game they did ads for ... ODST?

4-5 years of development and no marketing...that would be odd..unless of course you're talking about a 'massive marketing campaign'.

not exactly traditional marketing but these off beat techniques seem to be on the rage recently.

I'm sure they will do something. The last game they did ads for was Forza 3.

themanwithnoname's law: As an America's sales or NPD thread grows longer, the probabilty of the comment "America = World" [sarcasticly] being made approaches 1.

They'll market it. Just give it a couple of weeks. And is everyone forgetting about Microsoft's FF XIII ads?

It does have some stiff competition in May

- Red Dead Redemption
- Super Mario Galaxy 2
- Lost Planet 2
- ModNation Racers

I can't see them not marketing this one.

Since AWake/SMG2 and ModRacers are all exclusives, they aren't really in direct competition, especially when you take gemre into consideration on top of it.

Red Dead and LP2 I agree with.

It'll be interesting to see how software sales shake down here.  How much does Alan Wake need to do week one for it to be a successful IP launch do you guys think?  Preorders are about 50k now.   Is 200-250k or so a good launch for this?  Or will that be disappointing?

Can't we all just get along and play our games in peace?
