Forums - Sony - Sony Ericsson President states Android is their Main OS!

Sony Corporation Q1 2010 Earnings Call Transcript

Bert Nordberg – President, Sony Ericsson

Bert Nordberg

I think we have been quite clear on the main operating system we have. It is of course Android, but we look at sounds, we look at the total experience and the total ecosystem and operating system is becoming a less important part of that. And it isn’t as the financial markets try to believe, it isn’t that expensive to keep operating system up and running according to my view. So, we have no change to the strategy, but the main operating system we are working with is Android.

what this may mean for The future of the PSP's direction

Cool, x10 might be my next phone.

LOL, android is like life buoy for lots of underperforming manufacturers (first Motorola, now SE). It's no suprise, actually, as these companies are losers in already established segments of the market, so they naturally jump in to the only opportunity left. But know what? Once Samsung establish themselves as standard de facto of Android device (like Nokia did with S60 handsets), these companies gonna lose again.

Sigh, still on my X1, somebody sponsor me an X10?

Interesting name; Arriola, sounds like...

isn't the new Xperia supposed to be running on Android? (if not then they should really get rid of Windows mobile, its crap!)

yes it does the Xperia x10 does run android, but the bad part for some is no multi-touch other than that it's a d@mn good phone, even though the xperia 1 has windows mobile, it even has the capability of remote play also:

MobileRemote, allows you to connect your Windows Mobile phone via bluetooth to another bluetooth enabled device. MobileRemote can be downloaded from here for $8.99.
