Forums - Sony - Should I trade in my PS3 60GB for a new PS3 Slim?

I've had a long run with my PS3 60GB and I'm sure that it'll break anytime soon. Should I trade it in for a new PS3 slim or is it worth keeping?

Dah, I mean it is useless right, so no brainer its shit.

Depends, you still play ps2/ps1 games? If not then ebay that shiz for $299 (if not more) to pay for the slim.

2 questions, if you're answer is no to all, then you'll find the slim to be better.

1. Do you have any PS2 games that you play on it?

2. Do you use the USB ports often (the slim only has 2).

The slim has a 45nm Cell, vs the 90nm in the 60GB, which means it's going to use the fans less from the heat (makes it quieter).

(Don't listen to the Sony reps that say that you can get a PS2 w/ a PS3 non-BC,  there are advantages of using the PS3 to play PS2 games.  Using an official Dualshock wireless (PS2 doesn't have any) and no more memory cards)

Wow are we going to get one of these a week now, I never knew the PS3 was such a unreliable machine......So what makes you feel that its going to die anytime soon?

Getting an XBOX One for me is like being in a bad relationship but staying together because we have kids. XBone we have 20000+ achievement points, 2+ years of XBL Gold and 20000+ MS points. I think its best we stay together if only for the MS points.

Nintendo Treehouse is what happens when a publisher is confident and proud of its games and doesn't need to show CGI lies for five minutes.

Just ask anyone on these forums that I always post these threads. After all the threads I posted Idecided to keep my 80 gb MGS4 PS3. If you do like the look of the PS3 slim more than go ahead and get it but the 60gb one is the better overall machine. Besides its not like the PS3 slim won't break down. You have one of the oldest PS3s and if it is still going strong then keep it. I have a feeling in like 2-3 years people will also start getting problems with the slim PS3.

Do you hate having a PS3 that is backwards compatible with a PS2, done with PS2 games, or planning on buying a PS2 to go with the PS3 Slim?

Sell your PS3 and get the PS3 slim. Old PS3 broke and I had a warranty, and they gave me a slim version. Love it so much more! Can't even hear it.

@SpartenOmega117

I think that's what my question was more about, should I trade my PS3 60Gb to help pay for a new Slim or just buy a new slim and keep the 60GB on the side.

@Richardhutnik

In all honesty I don't use the features, but I like the idea of having it if I ever wanted to use it. It's really the fact that it's getting old and might only have a few months left.

@RockSmith372

Yeah, I need my speakers up a good amount so that I don't hear it. Unfortunately I never purchased a warranty.
