Forums - General - Help me find information on Otto Von Bismarck's military exploits.

If anyone can that is... It would be greatly appreciated. :D

All I can find is information on his political agenda, and while that's nice and all, I was hoping to find information on his improvement of the economy of Germany and his military expansion such as that of the navy.

From well-documented sources, if possible... I was thinking of using Wikipedia... but... eh... <_<;

Look up the Seven Weeks War.

This. That was his real masterwork. He also masterminded the Franco-Prussian war, and i think (but i'm not entirely sure) he cooked up a Denmark-Prussia war of some kind, though that may have predated him.

But let me say that Bismarck was very much opposed to Germany having a strong Navy. He felt it would be too provocative towards the British. He was a mastermind of balance-of-power politics as somewhat of a peacekeeping deal, which is why his wars were so masterful, because they were short, decisive, and above all, contained, and didn't inflame like World War I did (though the Italians exploited the 7 weeks war to get back Venice from the Austrians, it didn't expand much)

Bismarck was also opposed to Germany getting colonies at all, since he was more concerned with Germany's precarious position on the European map.
