Sales of the Xbox 360 in Australia and New Zealand have now passed the one million mark, according to Microsoft.
"Reaching the one million console milestone is a great achievement and one that puts us in a great position for the coming year," said Frazer Scott, acting marketing director of entertainment and devices for Microsoft New Zealand.
"Since 2006, we've taken the lead in the innovation space and driven the growth in online entertainment. Our online community, Xbox Live, is one of the largest online communities in the ANZ region with more than 525,000 subscribers.
"We also offer services such as Facebook and Twitter on Xbox Live and movies streamed in HD direct to your television, which really sets us apart from our competition."
To celebrate the milestone, Microsoft is to hold an auction of one-off celebrity-designed consoles in aid of the David Peachey Foundation.
Among the airbrushed Xbox 360s that will be auctioned from today are ones designed by celebrities Russell Crowe, Jennifer Hawkins, Hugh Jackman and Kelly Rowland.
"Xbox has been a strong supporter of the David Peachey Foundation and Cure Kids for many years. Reaching one million gave us a great opportunity to raise as much money as we can for DPF and Cure Kids so get onboard and make a bid," said Scott.
The Xbox 360 topped one million sales in Japan, with sales of 1.23m recorded in March this year.
In the UK the installed base stands at approximately 4m and in the US it's around 20m.

Imagine not having GamePass on your console...
VGC has the XBox 360 at 952k in Australia right now. 48k at retail sounds right to me. The sell about 3.8k per week. So the have about 3 months of supply in stores. Makes sense to me.
Well done VGC

Good job Microsoft!
Hopefully this announcement will encourage the competition to release updated sales figures of their own for Australia & New Zealand.
Nice one. Am I right in that Aus has just 17mill people or there abouts. Quite an achievement .
