Forums - General - Carl Williams: Australian Gang boss is dead.

Metal bar from an exercise bike was used to beat Mr Williams several times across the head at Victorian maximum security prison. He was knocked unconscious, cardiac arrested and could not be resuscitated.

Mr Williams was sitting at a table and happily minding his own business. It was a callous unprovoked attack by one of his two prison cell mates. Police are reviewing CCTV footage of the incident.

Carl Williams was one of the worst serial killers in the history of Victoria, Australia. He was dead at aged 39....Notorious story of a brutal man ending with a brutal end. He was convicted of ordering 3 murders and found guilty of a fourth murder. He was recently sent to a 35 year  prison sentence for four murders.

Carl Williams was an interesting character in the tv series under belly. Sad end to a high profile criminal or good riddance?

I don't understand why some people think that in prison rape and violence are legitimate components of the "justice" the state imposes on criminals.

because a murderer being murdered and a rapist being raped is real justice.

Then why does the state not simply rule "X is to be murdered" or "Y is to be raped"?

Because we're self pleasing hypocrites, and say "Oh! But that's cruel and inhumane", yet chear on when we put criminals in an enviornment that results in "cruel and inhumane" behavior.

It sorta parallels gladiatorial games to me. Let the sub humans/lower class kill each other, call them barbaric, but revel in it ourselves.

We simply don't have the guts to either engage in "cruel and inhumane" punishment ourselves, or to admit that we desire such "cruel and inhumane" punishment. Either way, it's despicable.

Check out the Williams May 2007 court trial. Smiling killer. He is one sick twisted dude. Shows absolutely no remorse. Carl Williams is a text book psychopath. Cowardly killer. That is all he ever was. Good riddance.

I see what you mean, Akvod.

He had it coming.

Yup, that totally justifies it. He's a criminal and he's in jail so being murdered is suddenly justified in this instance.

Same basic logic that cause events like 9/11/2001. "They had it coming because they're godless".

So a killer being killed by a killer is the same thing as a religious zealot who kills innocent people?

Murder is murder and to be happy about a murder happening puts ones morals and sanity into question, in my opinion.

I'd even go so far as to say had someone been murdered in jail, which would then be cheered by this witch hunt society we currently live in, and it was later found out that this person was innocent, society would either hold firmly to the false belief of this innocent man's guilt (to feel better about themselves) or ignore and not speak of it to pretend the event didn't exist.

It's typical human behavior. The capacity for remorseful behavior is exaggerated and the capacity for one to feel happy or sad for someones death is solely on what the media tells most of the public to feel.
