And yeah, GOW 1,2,3 is worth getting but Demon Souls is a must.

If you like RPG go with Valkyria Chronicles, Yakuza 3 (or 4 if you speak Japanese) and Demon's Souls.

For Shooters you want to look at MAG, Killzone and Resistance 2.

Virtua Fighter 5 isn't a great game and has no online so if you are interested in getting some better fighters you probably want to look into Super Street Fighter IV, Blazblue and Tekken 6.

And no, Metal Gear couldn't be done on 360 without graphical downgrades, if anything this is because it's a 60GB game and the 360 hold a lot less so textures would need to be heavily compressed, significantly increasing loading times and split across several discs. It wouldn't run as well, or look as good if it were on 360. Plus you'd be swapping discs every 4hours.
