well it could be that graphics are a going to be constrained by budgets and price of consoles next gen hopefully this just means we will see the average games raise up to above uncharted 2 level lol, at 1080p native 60fps no pop-in, screen tearing and longer view distance and Anti-aliasing being an average game. And that is if it's only small jump in tech (around $250 launch lol) it is very possible we will se a large jump in the level of detail with tech like tessellation allowing much more detailed models etc to be created with less effort and time and procedural generation for content like grass, hair etc could mean games look far better than they do now. Just imagine this scene for me, you see grass with hundreds of glistening dew drops, the camera slowly pans up a character with cloth billowing in the wind (without clipping) hair is blowing around, as the character pulls out a sword that glints in the sunlight and is reflecting the world around it, the camera pulls out and the HUD fades in and you can see a dozen enemies running towords and you attack the first one and blood sprays out and lands on your character and glistens in the sunlight and drips off onto the ground. all this with no jaggies and 60fps and that wouldn't be a big jump? by 2012 ultra high end tech should allow that level lol.

assuming supply is plentiful Sony only needs 1 thing in America:
Marketing and lots of it.

Americans respond to ads, marketing and without it, they have no idea a product even exists.
Any 1 system can take the lead with enough $$ in advertising.
