Forums - Microsoft - Remedy respond to Leaked footage. NO Screen tearing in Alan Wake.

"Well, it's not really a bug; it's just that when you're capturing video, it tends to get kind of complicated. The screen tears all the time in this video, and in general the game looks very choppy -- I mean, just to pick an example, take the part starting at 2:10, when Wake's running towards the wooden stairs: at least on my computer, you can actually clearly see the screen freeze for a fraction of a second a couple of times, at always the exact same spots. That's definitely not what happens when you're actually playing the game. It's just one of those things."

"Well. It appears that the concept of an embargo is very alien and confusing for some people. I don't really have anything else to say about this."

Yeah because it takes away points to use against it.

Good for Remedy to let us know though.

The tearing usually results in capturing the video in 60hz output(standard HDTV output for games) at 30FPS which is a common problem until people start capturing at 60FPS as a standard practice, the problem is that some people might not be able to watch such videos in older computers or might lack the bandwidth to enjoy such media since they can potentially get 1.5-2times bigger at the same image quality.

well he isnt going to say yeah my game has screen tearing all the time we did it on purpose. But it could easily be the video capture methods. I think the game could be interesting. I may try it out. probably rent it since im trying to cut down on the games i buy since i usually only play them once.

The leaked footage actually originates from Gamepro captures. Thats what he's refferring to. Some people thought they saw tearing. It wasnt it was the capture. But he has confirmed this before about a gameplay trailer. There is no tearing in Alan Wake gold.

Fastest damage control ever. Seems like they're trying to hide something.

Or they're just annoyed by forum fanboys being forum fanboys and people breaking embargos.
