The point I was trying to make is that it's not certain they actually had access to girls even. Historically, as far as earlier sexual abuse goes (unless you'd assume it's a very recent affair), catholic priests would have little to none contact with adolescent girls. In more recent cases - maybe. In orphanage cases, probably.
My mum went to a catholic school. So did her brother - to different catholic schools, and those were not mixed. My mum's teachers were mostly (if not exclusively, not 100% sure on that one) women. The opposite for my uncle (all men). A molesting priest at a boys school would have some difficulty keeping a 90% girls ratio. A molesting nun is more of a porn flick material.
That was in the mid 50s-early 60s.
However I still remember the local catholic choir from the mid-80s, and it was also an all boys choir. There was a mixed choir for the adults and probably a girls choir too. Well, that's about the last time I went to church and the last I remember, hence I was trying to google how mixed schools and similar were spread on a popularity timeframe.
