Forums - Sony - ModNation Racers, what are you expecting?

When does this release and what's the total cost of entry? Is it just a normal $60 game or is it something where I have to buy upgrades to my cars and things?

If it is just a game with a cool track editor and limitless car customizations all for just $60 (or less) I may have to consider this!

@ nightsurge: it's option 2: track editor, singleplayer, split screen, multiplayer and all the customization you want (tracks, cars, dudes, outfits). And a real fun racer to boot.

Sounds good, thanks!

I expect easier navigation than LBP, easier customization LBP, and all-in-all, more fun than I've had with any Kart Racer since Mario Kart 64 (and I've played them all).

That said, I doubt it will impact me quite like LittleBIGPlanet did.

@ CGI: You're just putting the game down a bit so that you can be surprised afterwards. I'm getting to know you :p

And the navigation is through your start button, or you just drive to the circle of the thing you want to do :p

customization:track customization is way easier. Character customization is waaaaaaaaaaaaaay deeper, but similar in behaviour as LBP.

I'm expecting this to be bigger than LittleBigPlanet.

From the beginning I was saying this game is going to appeal to even more people and be easier to market.

It's a genre that's even more pick up and play than LBP's platform genre.

Anyway, discuss.

I would say it has a good shot of topping LBP.  Also, if the game is really moddable, and can create something like Halo's Griffball, then it could have real good legs to it.

I was in the beta, I know how it works.

On a serious note, I know it won't make the same (initial) impact as LBP. It'll likely have the higher replay value for me though, I'm a sucker for good kart racing games. The beta alone was enough for me to be busy most of the time.

I must admit that the beta I played was lame compared to the preview copy

The best Kart racer to get out to the market since the Mario 64 days...

What do I expect?

FIrst off it will be massive. Lol (It's more like hoping more than expecting)
It will be fun
It will be creative
and Expect a lot of DLC like LBP. I can imagined it now. Drake skins, Cole, Kratos, Helghans, Sackboy, Snake and etc. or some characters from 3rd party games. You can say this an unofficial Sony kart racing Lol.

I hope for a LOT of replay value.
