Forums - Microsoft - what are your splinter cell impressions?

Game is real fun but I'm shocked at how easy it is on realistic difficulty.

This is by far the most accessable (and in return linear) Splinter Cell I've ever played. That's probably good for every single person that could never get into the past Splinter Cells, tho I can see why some old die hard SC fans will hate this game since It's no longer about hiding in every possible shadow. The controls are great once you know what buttons to hit.

The only down side of this game? No, not that's its short. They removed Spys vs Mercs, and that was the best muliplayer vs experience I ever had on the original XBox (outside of Halo) so I hope they bring back as DLC or in the next Splinter Cell game.

It's just that simple.

I made it to the third chapter and its pretty good. It did seem a little repetitive but it's still fun and since it's short, I won't mind the repetitiveness (or so I believe). I stopped playing because Im still finishing up FFXIII. Hopefully these 2 games can hold me over for 2 weeks until Super drops (highly doubtful).

So it's pretty much like every other Tom Clancy game then? Quick, easy, and unfinished.

I don't think Splintercell 1-3 were quick, easy, and unfinished...

The shortest, easiest, automated single player experience in my life. 4 hours 20 minutes on the normal setting. Repeating the same strategy over and over, they get in a group throw a frag because the AI too stupid to run away fast enough. Take a guy down, mark three, take another guy down, mark three and repeat.

How are you marking so many enemies without stealth kills?

Anyways, I've only played an hour or so of it but I love it so far.  I haven't played any of the previous ones so I'm completely lost on the story but it's a lot of fun.  so far it's about the best executed cover system I've played and it's just fun.  I like sneaking around, shooting the lights, and doing the predator stuff.  Yeah, you can see how the AI can be pretty stupid, but if you're trying to break a game you'll always find flaws.

I imagine there are peopel that are just too awesome for their own good and can finish it in 4-5 hours, but I'm going with the Gametrailers review and it will probably average most people 8 hours along with another 4-6 for the other modes.

You don't need stealth kills to get mark and execution. The AI is really dumb, especially when it comes to the "last known position" all you have to do is move from your last known position and grab one of the morons running, shooting, or throwing a frag at your last known position. No stealth is involved in that just taking advantage of the dumb AI, hell sometimes they'll run past you in cover and you can just grab one of them.

Unfinished? Well Ghost Recon 1 was a great near launch title for the system.

Rainbow Six Vegas was amazing. Had great co-op, online multiplayer was a blast and had a great cover system before going in cover started to become all the rage. Though R6Vegas 2 was a dissapointment.

I'd say honestly the only thing conviction is missing is Spys vs Mercs or outright 4v4 Spys. I'm glad I kept Double Agent for that, for now.

The unfinished part I agree somewhat because the detail on the characters look bad sometimes. The AI is terrible most of time and the change in difficulty only increase the sight of the enemy which i'll agree stealth is needed more for the realistic difficulty but the " last known position" trick can still be exploited regardless. The game is good ( story, co op, and unlocks) but its not the Splinter Cell I know.
