Forums - Sony - 4:3 TV works well with PS3?

I have a 4:3 samsung 20 inch TV. On my xbox 360 it looks great and graphics look really good on it. I have a compnent cable for my PS3 and i hooked it into my TV and it does not look very good. I think it is because of the cable because the pixels dont show up really well on it. I recently ordered the sony brand component cable. However im not sure if PS3 works well with 4:3 tvs at all. SHould i return my order for my component cable?

any help guys?

didn't you ask this in another thread? Cable shouldn't matter, make sure you have the PS3 set to output properly

what do you mean? like have it set to 480p or something and make 16:9?

also when i make it 16:9 i dont get those black boxes some people get. When i set to 4:3 i do get those black boxes

return the sony ones, a cable is a cable regardless of brand. It either works or doesn't. I would check to see if there are any settings you can customize through the ps3, and maybe settings on your tv. I dont have a ps3, but with the xbox you can change display settings, and the cable has an hd switch too. Maybe a ps3 user could help you out

What exactly is your tv's native resolution, and is it square or rectangular? I'm assuming its square

the resolution is 800 by 600. Its almost a square but the the width is a quarter of a foot longer
