Forums - Gaming - Why Shooters Are Better on Wii

I would say shooters SHOULD be better on the Wii, due to the superior interface... however nobody has stepped up and delivered.

I'd rather buy a PS3 FPS anyday of the week. (Because of the free online if you wonder why over the 360.)

Still it is a lot of fun playing some FPS on the Wii, they really need to step their game up though.

Wii FPS SHOULD be better. Right now though the wii is like those smart kids in school who never really apply themselves and study because hey know they can get a solid B or B- without studying.

Pc wins too easily

In my option: Wii Remote >>>>>>> Mouse >>> One analog (GoldenEye) >>> Dual Analog.

As told in another thread, after playing Metroid Prime 3 I can't go back to the old controls =)

i agree but motion controls are only slightly less stable, mainly because your hand doesnt have a surface to steady itself on but its still faster and more precise and easier to use for a wider group of gamers than analog precision will ever be.

after gaming for so long on a pc i realize just how slow and tailored the console experience is, its almost bad considering a game like quake 1 is more precise and has faster gameplay.

with a mouse and motion controller i can pinpoint in seconds where i want my cursor to be i will be faster , more precise and have more fun doing it than using a stick

I wouldn't say shooters are better on the Wii, but I would say that shooters on Wii are a different experience than playing a shooter on 360/PS3/PC.

A true gamer would appreciate all the ways to play a shooter.

That's like saying a true car enthusiast should appeciate every car, including a pinto.

Someone shouldn't be classified "not a true gamer" just because they don't like a slower clunkier interface when they can have a quicker, better interface.

While I agree that the mouse is still the best for aiming, gamepads have PC FPS control schemes beat with analog movement. On a normal keyboard, keys are digital, so you haven't got fine control of your movements in a typical WASD setup. Maybe you get analog schemes I haven't seen, but it's not the norm.

But I would never argue that having analog movement is better than having precision aiming.

PC.... play counter strike

I have. The mouse is great for aiming, but the thing is tethered to this stupid and awkard gaming device called a keyboard.

Also, Wiimote aiming is more fun.

I'm a mod, come to me if there's mod'n to do.

Chrizum is the best thing to happen to the internet, Period.

Serves me right for challenging his sales predictions!

Bet with dsisister44: Red Steel 2 will sell 1 million within it's first 365 days of sales.

While I agree that the controls in a game like conduit felt great, no wii shooter has had a decent polish so far (didn't play MW).

And to the point where mouse is too precise... these are games, not simulations... and so far the mouse is still the best option (the wii mote for all it's pointing greatness is not suited for easy button clicks besides A and B...)

play cod WaW on wii or red steel 2 , analogs are put to shame in seconds  and yes the mouse is still the best but a very tweeked motion controller is almost just as good and waaaaaay better than analogs

i'm sorry, if it wasn't clear.... I think Analog sucks for shooters. (well right stick analog).

and Stof...  the keyboard does have the advantage of having about 20 keys over the direction input... or you can use a gaming keyboard and have an analog + the 20 keys... (but yeah wiimote is more fun)
