and yet god of war 3 can quite easily say "mgs3 you look like a pice of dog poo" and no one won say it was wrong

Yeah but we're talking about the textures at the moment, without the usage of lightning etc, the simple textures.

The textures are better in GOW3. Enough said. The textures of GOW 3 are better than the textures of MGS4.

So, in conclusion, your friend picked one very good pic of MGS3 and the worst pics of God of War 3 in development that he could find. The finished product for GoW3 shits all over MGS3, graphically, and pisses on most other games released this gen. There's nothing to debate.

Few games this gen really have details on the way, most just make it shiny.
