S-E will still need to attract an audience outside Japan if they even remote to hope that DQIX to outsell FFXIII WW. It will require a lot of advertising and a lot of hype. Dragon Quest IX will need to sell over 6mil in order to even have a chance of beating FFXIII since I can practically guarantee 6+mil for FFXIII.

And the "niche" JRPG userbase you talk about clearly doesn't apply to FF main games like it does other JRPG's. The game is guaranteed to sell in Europe and America and by the time it's released in those regions the PS3 will not have a userbase or price issue. DQIX is not so guaranteed to sell well outside Japan.

I think an area where we largely disagree is the sales of FFXIII, I see around 4M worldwide sales, where you see 6M+.

Of course I could be wrong in that one.

I really love the art direction and I hope there will be a japanese demo before it gets released over there :) .

This SRPG (or ASRPG as they call it in the video) looks decent. I wouldn't buy it, as I'm not fond of the style, but I like the art direction, and there's too much RPG goodness coming already, I feel like I have enough to play all this generation with all they announced already on the japanese consoles.
I'll just LOL at people saying the Level 5 game looks mediocre. The fact with Level 5, is that we know what kind of goodness they can achieve, and no, WKS doesn't look mediocre, at all.
LOL too at who is saying FFT is not the best SRPG because all were not released outside of Japan. I used to play all my games in japanese version in this era (with Europe getting nothing of this RPG goodness), and FFT was definitely the best, no wonder it sold the best of all SRPG. Tactics Ogre would have gotten the crown if it wasn't so hard to find to begin with, and the PS1 remake didn't make it.

I dind't made any thing up Soriku, it was in fact a Japanese magazine last summer that annnounced that there where about 15 J-RPGs in devolopement that still wheren't announced for the PS3, and I believe that Valkyrie of the Battlefield was one of the un-announced games.

As far as Star Ocean IV concerns, it's not going to come to the Wii so the most obvious choice would be the PS3, especially now some J-RPGs have flopped on the Xbox 360. But if you read my post, you will see that I did say only "likely".

Can you give me a source for SOIV not coming to the Wii?

WKS to me looks like Final Fantasy 12.  Which would make it mediocre in my book gameplay wise.

Without Tactics Ogre, Final Fantasy Tactics would of never existed, since FFT pretty much re-used all of Tactics Ogres stuff.  Also if you haven't seen the Tactics Ogre story you're really missing out. FFT was a great game... but Tactics Ogre was better, and so similar that it's even hard to make an arguement that it wasn't.

Final Fantasy tactics sold the most out of all SRPGS because of the Final Fantasy brand name.  That much should be obvious.

S-E said they are putting the game on 'high end' console and that they are focusing on high graphics. High End and high quality graphics don't match the Wii.

SO4 will either be on the PS3  or 360 or both but definitely not the Wii.

Yeah, that's what I last heard.  I can't find the link to those comments anywhere though.  Just the Wikipedia article that claims it's already been confimred for the PS3 and may or may not be on 360.  Hah.

Edit: apparently the original report came from a blogger about it being made for the "High end systems" would suggest muliplatform no?

A Faimtsu scan indicated that it was exclusive to one system. Nobody knows as S-E sending mixed signs.

The only thing that's definite is that the Wii won't be getting it.

Last thing SE said was at TGS where they still ahdn't decided what platform it's going to.

That said it could still go to any console.
